Spring is in the air...no, wait! Scrap that.⁣ ⁣ SUMMER is in the air. With temperatures skyrocketing this week, it's only a matter of time before we see wildflowers blooming and bears out roaming.⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ #natureliteracy #explorerockies #mountrobson #myjasper #worldheritagesite #rockymountians #grizzlybear #bearsofinstagram #summertime #biodiversity #discoverwildlife #lovenature #keepitwild #instagood #theweekend #bcparks #explorecanada #nature_perfection #earthfocus #tourcanada #featured_wildlife #sharecangeo #imagesofcanada #oh_canada_

This cabin was built by Billy Carver. Originally from England he moved to Alberta to work as a coal miner. In 1910 he went off the grid to build his new home and live in solitude. He was tucked in amongst the woodland by the side of Lake Johnson and It is not an easily location to merely stumble across. . He lived there in isolation for 27 years. The only person to know of him was Gee Moy from the nearby mining town Anthracite. Anthracite no longer exists but was located near Banff. I simply can't imagine Billy's life, enduring the long freezing winters with his home surrounded by feet of snow and isolated from human contact. He was obviously a man of incredible endurance. . Mr Carver was eventually found in an ill state of health by some local youths who were exploring the lakeside woods and they notified the authorities. Billy later died in care in Banff town. . While many people may look upon him as a oddball recluse or a hermit, what he did have every morning was a view of the sun hitting Rundle Mountain with its reflection on the lake. He would have had nature at his doorstep and he shared it only with the Canadian wildlife. In fact this was the place I first saw a grizzly bear which was roaming by the lake and that is a privilege I paid good money to see in Banff National Park. at Banff National Park

Weather is warm and nice, but warming temperatures can destabilize the snowpack. Make sure you are safe if you decide to go play in the backcountry. @avalanchecanada issued an important warning for western Canada. Go have a look at it. ⚠️ . . . . #mybanff #banff #banffnationalpark #alberta #goldenrules #goldenbc #kootrocks #explorebc #explorerockies #beautifulbc #beautifulbritishcolumbia #britishcolumbia #explorecanada #explorealberta #explorebc #canadianrockies #rockymountains #purcellmountains #skibc #ski #snowboard #skitouring #powderhighway #champagnepowder #liveyouradventure #exploremore #canoncanada #canada_pic #ohcanada #playsafe at Banff National Park

Summer time is definitely my favourite time to shoot. I love exploring, going hiking with friends but mostly being able to take the time to set up the shot you want. Every season in Alberta is beautiful but the warm weather allows me to enjoy each moment so much more. The funny thing with Moraine Lake is you don’t need to be a great photographer to get a good shot. The water is already so blue, the mountains are perfect and you if you go early in the morning or before the sunsets you will most likely get glassy reflection like this. Last week I was in Orlando, Florida and while talking to locals about where I’m from I loved being able to pull out my phone and show them all the unbelievable places we have up here. Every person I showed photos too was in shock about how gorgeous our country is. Where are you most excited to explore and shoot? + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + 📷 Photo by: @marcwebter Edit by : @lostcoordinate + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + @travelalberta @explorecanada @canada #lifeofadventure #exploremore #stayandwander #traveljunkie #welltravelled #exploretocreate #pursuitlife #outdooradventure #ourplanetdaily #letsgosomewhere #wearethewild #livefolk #briskoutdoors #travelstoke #peytolake #rsa_outdoors #banff #lensbible #lostfam #travelalberta #travelcanada #folkmagazine #outdoortones #allaboutadventure #explorerockies #livefolk #wandermore #lakelouise #mountainstories #morainelake @backpackingviews_ @hatshots @travelandcampcollective @outdoortones @outside_project @rsa_outdoors @reflectiongram @earth_shotz @earth_shotz @stayandwander @visuals.collective @travelandleisure @artofvisuals @roamtheplanet @imagesofcanada @westjetmagazine @rbcavion @rbc @explorebanff @fairmonthotels at Banff, Alberta

It doesn't seem that long ago since I was at the Elizabeth Parker Hut at Lake O'Hara, but in a few days time it will already be two months. I'm not really a big winter fan, but ironically, just as I'm finally getting into it, it's about to end. I don't feel like I really got to take full advantage of it in terms of my outdoor activities, but I have tried to make the most of those that I did do. In early January, I was lucky enough to find free space for two consecutive nights at Lake O'Hara, and the timing worked out that a friend from Canmore was available on those days to join me. I'd previously been to Lake O'Hara twice, but only in the summer, and both times I'd taken the bus in. Of course the road is closed in winter so the only options are to ski or snowshoe in the 11 kms. The first night we were there was the night after the Super Blood Wolf Moon, and we were lucky to have clear skies. The moonlight reflecting on the snow lit up the hut, the surrounding mountains, and the wispy clouds, but stars were still visible. It was an unforgettable night and definitely one of the highlights of the winter. . . . . . #yoho #bcisbeautiful #beautifulbritishcolumbia #explorebc #canadianrockies #explorerockies #canoncanada #canada_photolovers #canadiancreatives #enjoycanada #explorecanada #imagesofcanada #livelovecanada #parkscanada #tourcanada #cangeotravel #sharecangeo #alpineclubofcanada #avioning #exploreclub #bestmountainartists #choosemountains #montagne_my_life #mountainorama #mountainplanet #mountainstories #mountainsphoto #splendid_mountains #supersummits #takemoreadventures at Yoho National Park

Monday Vibin’. Taking a moment this morning to reflect on all the things I’m grateful for. The day to day gets stressful but sometimes it just takes a moment to remember all the blessings. Find your happy. #explorerockies at Lake Louise, Alberta

The Fernwell Building was built in the aftermath of the Great Fire of Spokane, in 1889. It was known as the Chamber of Commerce Building for 4 years, until it was renamed the Fernwell Building. Herman Preusse was its architect, his designs are heavily influenced from Romanesque Architecture, having studied architecture in Europe prior to arriving in Spokane. He was an important player in building up downtown Spokane and unfortunately, a lot of his work was lost in the fire. He later partnered with Julius Zittel to design the Carnie Library that I featured last week -- The Fernwell Building was built by Rollin Charles Hyde and named after his deceased son. It hosted a men’s clothing store on the first floor for 90 years. The upper levels contained office spaces and even a hotel on the 4th, 5th and 6th floors. Hyde lost his entire fortune when, in 1893, the banks failed during a panic. He spent the next 3 years working as a janitor in the Fernwell Building and never complained about his plight. He ultimately ended up in Idaho operating a farm and lived to be 88 years old -- The Fernwell has been a stand alone building since 2007, when it’s neighboring buildings were demolished due to dilapidation. We’re lucky that it’s survived and has been well taken care of, it’s a beautiful building and a reminder of the beginnings of Spokane. It currently is home to Columbia Bank, and a handful of law & technology offices -- -- -- #oldbuildinglover #historic #downtownphotography #skyscrapers #downtownspokane #wandering #explorerockies #shewanders #stpatricksday #sundays #architecture #seattle_igers #downtownpdx #travelwashington #travelers #roadtrippers #design #weekends #potd #inspiration #motivation #urban_shots #photo_daily #featured at Columbia Bank

Since we arrived here on Wednesday, our trip has been filled with meetings, neighborhood scoping, and great food; but today, we finally got to venture outside of the city. I haven’t seen much yet but I am already head-over-heels!🏔 at Boulder, Colorado
