I’ve really got back into porridge & all things oaty these last couple of months. . Partly because I forgot how much I LOVE 💗 them, partly because of how versatile they are, totally because of how yummy I can make them, but mostly because they satisfy my hunger gremlins! Keeping me fuller for longer & preventing me from reaching for a quick fix of unhealthy snacks to silence the belly grumbles. . I am on my feet, teaching, working, training etc much more these days & quite frankly I need a good wholesome, filling, warm tummy start to my day - everyday! . I have always loved breakfasts & these days sometimes have 2 😬🤭😊if I’m up & out super early.😋 . Guys!! I like kale! The massaged kind of course 💁‍♀️ So yes, if you have a tough time eating or digesting kale I strongly recommend trying to massage it!! (Although I'm sure you've heard this before) . This is my batch cooked lunch for the week assembled: Massaged kale, quinoa tabbouleh with Creamy Sweet Onion dip (using as a protein/replacement for hummus) && topped with hemp seeds and roasted chickpeas 🙌 . Oat and veggies waffles with sunny side up egg. Since my stomach is definitely on savoury side as far as breakfast is concern I really enjoyed these waffles made with courgette, carrot, peas and regular oats. They are also ligter than their traditional waffle brothers. pear protein oaty goodness 😍 this was protein oats (fine oats, @hollandandbarrett protein muesli, banana, soya milk, soya protein powder, cinnamon, cacao nibs) topped with almond soya yoghurt, a pear and dried mulberries (I SWEAR THEY TASTE LIKE WHITE CHOCOLATE/TOFFEE🤤) - ya gal has got back from pole fitness and I feel so good!!! Like my back has that good ache after a good workout, and my hands have like burn😂 I loved the spin section the most as well as the dynamic of the pole actually spinning was even more fun. I genuinely admire people who do it so much; it’s so much harder than you’d think and takes so much strength and power to do. I can’t wait to go back and build myself! I managed a couple of spins and moves which I’m rather happy with ☺️💪this is what exercising is about; not obsessively doing it and hating what you do because you feel obliged, but because you WANT to and because it makes you feel good. Yeah it might not be easy if you’re new to it, but everyone has to start somewhere 😌I feel so wonderful and powerful and I just want to keep getting stronger. ..... Happy Mindful Eating Day continued. A delicious one could be to be mindful about the taste, smell and texture of food. This can happen from the moment you start to prepare a meal, to it sitting on your fork. What does it look like? Can you hear it? What does it smell like? Does it change flavours as you chew it? What was in that mouthful that you'd like to combine together again? Before you dish up your plate check-in with how hungry you are. This can help with portion sizes to enjoy quality, not quantity. When more food is served, we are tempted to eat more! Go back for more after that 20 minutes if you need more. Did you know that just by seeing or smelling food may trigger cues to eat... but are you actually hungry or does it just smell good? Grab yourself a smaller plate or bowl. We tend to use the available space given and psychologically a 'normal' portion can seem like you've not eaten much if the vessel is too big and the plate could have been full. Check-in with your stress levels. You may find yourself responding to stress by eating, even when you're not hungry. Perhaps, notice if this is a habit you have. If you do, then try and not judge yourself but acknowledge it. Maybe next time, go for a walk, take some deep breaths or share your feelings with someone else. Getting something off your mind is a great way to feel supported and a feel like a mini moment of caring therapy. My personal favourite....Appreciate food. Acknowledge the gift of food and the effort needed to grow, harvest and prepare it. Enjoy your food with gratitude and a smile. Happy Mindful Eating Day 2019... Today I'd like to ask everyone to put food first. Take a moment and just realise what you're eating, smell it, notice it and eat every mouthful. It's actually easier than it sounds but just in-case here's some ideas that might help... When you eat – only eat! Give eating the attention it needs to fully enjoy your food and be mindful of every bite. So.... Eat s.l.o.w.l.y. When you eat food, do you already have the next mouthful lined up before you've finished chewing the last one? Your mind is so busy focusing on the next spoon that you've missed noticing the food that's in your mouth. Try consciously putting your fork down between bites, CHEW and then pick up your fork after swallowing. By putting down your fork, your meal should last a little longer (hopefully up to 20 minutes) which gives your body time to give you hunger or satiety cues. Hello there. This morning I was craving something sweet and fruity. Like really sweet and really fruity. I could've had a smoothie but I like my smoothies to be really cold and I didn't have any frozen ingredients. Then I remembered that I made @southernfruity 'raw oatmeal' that is made from grated apples a while ago and that I really liked it. So I made something along those lines. This is grated apples mixed with raisins, cinammon, ground vanilla bean, @the_tribe_way vanilla protein powder and a drizzle of cashew mylk topped with banana, sesame and sunflower seeds, chopped dates and date syrup. I then ran out of time and took it with me in a jar which looked a lot less appealing. But it tasted great. A perfect light breakfast or a good snack for those super sweet cravings. INSALATA DI PASTA FREDDA .
