Have been totally slacking the past couple weekends on sharing #willowcrownsathome things, which is normally what I try to do on Sunday around here! { gurrlll, you loco } . Out at one of my favvvv photography locations late yesterday afternoon and a brunette, late 20s woman was walking towards Ruby and I with her camera around her neck. Miss ‘no holds back’ rubs up to this woman and showed her her little eggs she was carrying in a cane basket, the woman talks to Ruby for a minute or so then goes on her way, off to take some landscape photos. Ruby then chased after her yelling out ‘Elijah’s Mum, Elijah’s Mum, come back!” I quietly tell Ruby that in fact it was not Gemma but another lady who had the same colours hair and a camera. Sunday thoughts. Before motherhood there were spaces in my life that I called my own and now those spaces are shared. Some of the most vulnerable places in my life invite Calvin into them. Whether I like or not. On the days were I’m crying and a hot mess he stares completely clueless to my emotions. He is present in the times when Ruben and I are in conflict and I wonder if he senses the silence between us. He is present in moments when I’m changing and looking in the mirror wondering if I can even call myself beautiful in this Postpartum body. He invites himself into those areas without even acknowledging it. I think that’s the hardest part of motherhood for me. His presence breaks through all the spaces in my life that I want to hide from others, It’s the same places God meets me in. So whether it’s in the bathroom, the dirty kitchen, in front of the mirror meltdowns or in my bed, He is there. What are those areas you try to hide in ? God wants to meet you there. I have a special place in my heart for pictures of babes in their mom’s bed. When my kids were babies we spent so much time there. We played our first games. We discovered first smiles and laughs. We started with little tickles and graduated to full body tossing. The laughing is endless. So is the snuggling. And don’t get me started on the endless breastfeeding. I was desperate in my first year with Magnolia to have pictures of these moments. I worked nearly every day on making self portraits. With Rocky I passed the camera to John and was lucky enough to have @annaliisanixon photograph our day which included amazing pictures of my and Rocky’s bed routine. SOMEONE SEND HELP🚨🛏 - We literally have the HARDEST time getting out of bed because our @casper california king is WAY too comfortable! This one rare occasion where I’ve actually made the bed 😂 - Whenever I make the bed Winston is the first one to jump back in!
