Immunosuppressants, steroids, muscle relaxers, and pain killers. Were the only solutions offered by my doctor. I wanna let you in on a secret... ⠀ This past month, I’ve slipped up on my diet. ⠀ Not just once. ⠀ Multiple times... 🍕🤷‍♂️🍷 ⠀ And guess what? ⠀ I know I’ll slip up again. ⠀ So why haven’t I spiraled out of control? ⠀ Why haven’t I gained back the 140+ lbs I’ve lost? ⠀ Two things —> Language 🗣 & Mindset 🧠 ⠀ When I overeat, I don’t call it a “binge.” ⠀ I don’t turn it into a game of “how bad can I be?” either... ⠀ I finish my meal and get back to what I was doing before. ⠀ The next day, I don’t try and “recover” by drastically cutting calories, fasting, or doing guilt cardio... ⠀ I get back on the regular plan. ———————————— There’s not a single person on Earth who doesn’t veer off their plan on occasion and end up overeating, skipping a workout, etc. ⠀ No one’s perfect 🙅‍♂️ ⠀ And that’s okay! ⠀ Luckily, you don’t have to be perfect to lose weight and build a lean & healthy body. ⠀ What it takes is consistency 💯 ⠀ Consistently hitting your nutrition targets... 💥MY GROCERY SHOPPING GUIDELINES💥 - Disclaimer: None of that shit in the fridge is mine... lol - You ever walked into the grocery store, not known what to get, got pissed off, and left with nothing? - That was me.... literally every time. - I’ve talked to clients and a few have felt the same way, so I figured I’d share my thought process. - To get over this, of course I started out with some #easywins - For the longest time my “meal prep” was buying a 5 pack of Oikos Greek yogurt cups for breakfast. - Eventually that built up to where I am today but don’t be afraid to start small! - Personally, I’m not a recipe guy. The thought of buying 25 different ingredients pisses me off even typing it. - Here are some of the guidelines I follow to stay successful. - 🍖Find the protein- Just buy a bunch of proteins that you like and build around that. - 🥦Pick some veggies- get some green stuff man. Spinach is an easy one to start with. Then go for whatever you like or you think would go with your protein. - 🥑Healthy Fats- I’m looking for the most flexible options that i can get when it comes to fats. avocados can go with anything. Same with peanut butter. Eggs are like that too. All solid staples to have on deck. - 🍎Carbs- for me it’s typically wraps, rice and fruit. You could swap the rice for potatoes as well. Black beans are great to have too. Oh.... of course @savageoats - 😛Flavor- don’t miss this one. Shits gotta taste good too! Week 6 of the 10 week challenge. The middle of this past week, I was trying to remember why I'm doing this. Why I feel a need/desire to workout and eat healthy...for the most part. Then I saw this picture on my phone and I had flashbacks to college. Up until graduation, I was a twig. No matter what I did, I could never gain muscle and it was infuriating. Well 58 pounds and 22 tattoos later, I'm proud of where I am today. The next 4 weeks are going to be full of strict diet and cardio. I've started doing jump rope and already lost 6 pounds. Are you someone that hates cardio? I used to think I needed to do mind-numbing amounts of cardio to lose fat. ⠀ I used to strength train 5x week AND do 30-60 minutes of cardio every. single. day 🤭 ⠀ 🤯I was not only beating my body into the ground & not giving it proper rest, but I was miserable. ⠀ 👀I hated how I looked, I hated the treadmill (it should be renamed the DREADmill) but I genuinely thought that doing more & more cardio would change my body. ⠀ 🖐🏼Fast forward five years... and the only cardio I do is the stuff I enjoy. Bike rides outside, an occasional run, dancing in between sets and some boxing/metcon work! ⠀ Now I strength train 4x a week and enjoy hobbies that get me moving & focus on walking a shit ton. ⠀ 👙Here’s what you need to prioritize (in order of importance for fat loss): ⠀ ✅ Calorie Deficit: Eating less calories than your body needs is the only way to lose fat ✅ Eat Enough Protein: to maintain muscle mass when you’re dieting (so you get toned and don’t turn “skinny fat”) and to recover from workouts ✅ Lift Weights: 2-5x a week! (3-4 is a sweet spot for most people) ✅ 10k steps / day! ✅ Move!! Finding active hobbies you enjoy will keep you consistent and make it a lot more fun. ✅ Patience and Positivity: cause life is crazy and things take a hell of a lot longer than you want them to. ⠀ 🤸🏼‍♀️Now if you do enjoy cardio, then GO FOR IT! But if hanging out on a piece of cardio equipment leaves you bored & you just genuinely don’t enjoy it, don’t do it! ⠀ Cardio is a tool, but diet is QUEEN for fat loss 👸🏼 ⠀ ☝🏼Find what works for you, your lifestyle, habits, and preferences.
