Today I made a Cherry Pie 🍒
from scratch. I used the @epicurious recipe for a butter pie crust as the base. Exchanged a little of the wheat flour for almond flour because, why not?
The filling was made of beautiful cherries from our friends Rick and Amy bountiful garden (pitted by hand!). Added a little “cachaza” (Brazilian white rum) for a twist in the taste. .
I was a little nervous making this American staple pie thinking about cultural appropriation and other nonsense. This is my way of loving the culture I belong to now. Learning their food, cooking their way. It’s more about cultural appreciation! .
