If I sat any further into my hip for this photo, I think it’d bust out of the socket, but my excitement was so genuine in the moment! 😂 I knew what I wanted to share about the class when I asked @vernyverny to take this! .
I used to LOVE taking short trips away from NYC to reground myself and gain clarity. It has always been hard for me to calm down here. After a wild, incredible few months of work and travel, I was SO EXCITED for my 48 hours in NYC before heading back to tour tomorrow to reground myself and gain clarity- life is funny like that! .
Regardless of the many errands I had to run with limited time, taking James Kinney’s class was a non-negotiable. I wanted to dance. I wanted to train. I wanted to be pushed. .
Dance classes have a way of showing me areas of my life where I’m excelling and areas where I could use improvement. The way I take a correction speaks to the openness I’m feeling as a person that day or the way I tackle the combination speaks to whether I’m in a task-oriented mindset versus a creative mindset. Today’s class helped me gage where I’m at as a person, see the person I’m aiming to become, and was extremely grounding. .
I felt empowered dancing in a pair of heeled boots knowing I’d be exchanging them for body pads and stunt work next week. .
I felt loved seeing friends I haven’t seen in months and feeling like no time has passed. .
Best of all, I left class feeling like the determined, gritty, life-loving, lesson-learning, New York City Madison I’ve grown to love the past two years. You can’t ask for anything more than that. 🙏🏼❤️✨ at Steps on Broadway
