I’m not counting inches or watching scales. My New Year’s Resolution was to feel fitter and be my better self. For the past 6 weeks I’ve been doing the Couch to 5k program. I’m not done. I did week 4 twice, because I wasn’t happy with my effort. But, I just finished with the Week 5 Day 3 20 minute run. In total I went 2.6 miles and ran 2.2 miles straight. This might not seem like a lot to most people, but this is the most I’ve ever run at a time. Ever. So,I hear you say it all the time.... “but I can’t get a good workout at home” “20 to 30 minutes a day ain’t shit” “I cant get motivated” “Won’t get results” “It’ll interfere with my running” I used to think the same thing.... But these pics show otherwise... The first one is me gasping for breath....less than 30 minutes broke me off! Think I got in a good workout... The next two are a few months of persistent consistency apart....I “think” I see results😉 Then my amazing friend, fellow business partner and coach @tsmithmyer ....you still doubting results??!?!? First run of Couch to 5k. I've been doing Bootcamp for a few months now which I LOVE and I'm starting to lift heavier weights but I am still FAR too lazy outwith it. So decided to give this a try hoping that it also helps clear my scrambled brain a bit too ! I'm sore, sweaty, my ears are ringing, heart pounding and it's only week 1😫. 🏃🏼‍♀️ 2nd 10km race of this week done! 🙌🏻 . I'm honestly so surprised that I'm still able to keep up the paces I've been managing for longer runs since this training cycle started. I thought it was a fluke at first but now I think I'm really settling into it 🤩 . Today's run felt steady most of the way until I upped the pace for the last 2 miles which were my fastest. It is still such a novelty for me to be able to increase intensity at the end of a run. Even if I hadn't gone out 'fast' at the start, I often struggled towards the end and it usually became a trudge to the finish line. Not today! I was running in heart rate zones 2-4 for 71% of that run, my breathing felt controlled, and I could have carried on a good while longer. That realisation is huge for me 🤯 . It really wasn't that long ago that I was struggling so much to run for 2 minutes without needing 4 to recover or without feeling like I'd explode and collapse simultaneously. It also wasn't that long ago that I struggled to run a mile without stopping! Now I'm 7 weeks away from my second marathon, running casual 2 mile warm-ups to a 10km race, and considering 8.3 miles as an easier middle distance run 😱🙌🏻 . You really never know what you can do until you try. I need help. I cannot get thru the first half mile of this run. I think I pushed myself too hard on day 1 of week 4, to prove I could do it...but now I can’t. My legs won’t let me. It’s mostly my left leg, the outside of the calf - and then my knees. I need guidance on stretches, etc. I also think I might go back to week 3 and do that again until I feel like I can push thru to week 4. I truly love the #couchto5k app and it’s been helping me so much, but now I’m in a spot where I feel like I’m hurting myself. I am open to any suggestions. Went out today to try the Virtual Valentine’s Duo 5k one more time since I’m basically healthy now. I was hoping to set a new PB but had no idea I had this in me. Ran a warm up mile before I started my 5k. I smashed my records! 8:57 mile! 28:56 5k! I am a very very happy girl.

When I was pregnant, I made a promise to myself that after I had Arlo I would do everything possible to get healthy and back in shape. I’m on week 3 of working out 6 days a week and on week 4 of clean, healthy eating. Today, I did a 30 minute dance workout followed by day 1 of Couch-to-5k. I HATE running, but you know what? I feel great! Am I where I want to be? Nope, but I’m getting there one day at a time. Y’all, I challenge you to do something for yourself...more importantly your health. It’s crucial to take care of YOU so you’re able to successfully take care of everything else. We all make excuses... It’s too cold outside. I have so much to get done today. I have three kids and no time. I don’t have money for a gym membership. I don’t feel like it. I’d rather watch tv on the couch. See what I mean? Excuses don’t make you better and help you move forward. Whether it’s a small walk with your family, crunches on your living room floor or choosing to drink water instead of your usual soda. We all start somewhere! This isn’t meant to judge or make anyone feel bad, but to help encourage someone who doesn’t think they can make a change. Tonight’s lunch: home made lasagne with a grated side salad Cal: 420 Syns: 0 Recipe: Fry the mince for until browned, add onion, carrot, celery and mushrooms. Add the garlic, chopped tomatoes, stock cube, tomato purée, Worcestershire sauce, oregano and basil plus 500ml water. Bring to a gentle boil and simmer for 15 minutes or until thickened. Season to taste. Spray a oven tray with fry light. Spoon your mic and form an even layer. Spoon one-third of the mince into the bottom of the dish and cover with lasagne sheets. Add quark of any flavour in an even layer (sprinkle a little cheese if you like it cheesy!) Repeat these layers twice more, finishing with a sprinkle of cheese on top. S A T U R D A Y * * Well that was the worst run I’ve ever had and it made me want to cry 😂. * * I’ve been on C25K week 5 run 1 for as long as I can remember. I just can’t do 5 minutes again and again. I’ve taken the week off as I’ve had this horrible flu-year thing and I’ve just felt meh in general * * I did the first five minutes ok, took an extra 2 minutes breathing then could barely do a minute and a half at a time, I kept stopping and walking and then starting. I abandoned run 3 as I was getting so frustrated with myself and walked home. * * I’m at that stage where I want to give up, how can everyone just breeze through this in 9 weeks? Granted as I was starting very unfit and unhealthy.
