Training update: For the first 2 months of prep I am doing a "Power progression/drop set program". Basically that consists of 3 different focus workouts rotated through with each body region trained twice a week. "A" workouts are time under tension- lots of volume with heaviest possible weights. "B" workouts are powerlifting workouts. "C" workouts combine speed work for improved neural coordination with heavy dropsets. Loving the gains so far 😁Hit a dumbbell bench PB 28kgs x 4 tonight. 3 months ago my 4RM was 18kgs. I want to be getting those 30s up soon!! With bodybuilding it can be seen as a negative to always focus in on our weak points. To look in the mirror and not see how good we are, to only see what else needs to be done. For me, I can see how far I've come, I'm proud of the changes I've made. I can also see what I need to do and I don't look at it negatively, it's motivational, it's positive, it's a goal that I'm enjoying working towards. In the gym, ask yourself, do you enjoy training? If not then why continue doing the same thing? Today's #TransformationTuesday goes out to @rockstarfit_jp, who last year decided he wanted to step it up a notch in his training & diet and compete in a physique show. We spent time initially building muscle, and then slowly chipped away at the body fat till we got him the stage look he was after. - After qualifying and competing at the British finals last year, he's now deep into his off season, where the focus is all on progressing his big indicator lifts. JP's had a ton of injuries over the years, so it's always been about finding the right exercises that fit his mechanics best, and allow him to be progressive pain free. This has required a lot of tweaking on the programming front, but after trial and error, we've managed to nail it down. - Here's some words from JP about his coaching process with @rnt_fitness so far... notice how at RNT we take a team approach to our coaching. No matter who you're working with at RNT, you can be sure we'll all be discussing your plans together behind the scenes! - "Akash is an all in type of human much like myself and I knew that he’d been to those dark places during his own prep so would know best how to keep me from driving myself crazy when I got to that stage. - Having a coach for me is also about objectivity, so whoever I brought in had to be someone I could rely on to shoot straight from the hip. I knew that if I was behind schedule Akash would tell me and if he made a complimentary remark I’d 100% know that I was on point. - Akash would also occasionally bring @adamhayley1 into the process to consult on all things nutrition and supplementation so it felt like I had a support team and not just a coach. He even introduced me to a phenomenal posing coach (@ptlennyifbb) to ensure I was able to display my physique in the best possible light when I was on stage. - In the final weeks and hours of both show preps, Akash was pretty much in contact 24/7. Continuously on hand to make adjustments and always providing reassurance during the peaking process. He also made a point to be there to support me at the show which was very much appreciated."

I wasn’t sure that I was going to have a great workout since I went to sleep at 7 AM and woke up at noon. But @adamsugo pushed me and the pump was real. . . #motivationmonday. Looking at this picture which taken at a photo shoot the day after my first Pro show in 2011. When I look at it I see determination in the eyes. Hard work and scrafice. I see a never give up attitude I had and a fire burning so deep inside. Makes me feel like I wanna get back in the mode and tear shit up in the gym. I been laid up tsking care of work and giving my body a much need rest mentally and physically while I get all my testing done. I knew at this age id need to get checked out from head to toe to make sure I was healthy and nothing wrong. So if all goes well ill be back tearing it up and posting some training footage back up on here again. One more thing needs to get done then I'll be back. Next week going in for a foot surgery and two weeks of recoup but in the mean time I can do some upper body. Then it will be all out. You will firat hand see what peiple really don't show you. All you see on here is everyone juiced up or their best pics. The truth is you reply need to give the body a break, and I mean come off everything and at times just live normal. Mind body and spirit will rejuvenate much quicker that way. We are so programmed to just go go go. Leg day #1. Quad emphasis. Shown here are my 2nd of 2 heavy working sets on the hack squat for 6 reps. This hack machine at lifetime fitness is heavier than most so 3.5 plates feels like 5.5. For my 3rd set I dropped down to 3 plates and did 10 reps. For my second movement which is also shown here, I did banded close stance leg press, 2 working sets of 13 reps. Aside from these, I did abductor work, (inner and outer) single leg seated presses, leg extensions (1 and 2 legged) leg curls(seated and lying) and calves, (seated and standing). Stop the bar and sit in squat position and explode up from parallel. FULL range of motion! Clear the bar. Too many times in the gym I see people doing knee bends(what I call squats when you don't go halfway parallel). Alot of people worry about the number in the bar and looking like they are the "it" in the gym.
