'We were raised on false promises of white sands and opportunity, leaving us with only ourselves to blame for our failures. Last year in the 26 counties, every day that passed, another person lost the battle with their supposed failures and ended their life. The cultural hegemony that guarantees peace, in exchange for our labour, turns our mind into a warzone when our own realities come to light.' What a Capitalist Pill Cannot Fix - new on CYM.ie ✊❤✊❤

Many records of Indigenous cosmologies have been long lost to history and so our true understanding of our species is limited. What we do know, however, is that gender as a form of subordination has no place in our society and the assumption that 'women' have always existed across all cultures as a class subordinate to men, has no basis in reality. #ForwardIre

Today we remember and mark the 103rd anniversary of the Easter Rising, when brave comrades comprising the Irish Volunteers, Hibernian Rifles, Na Fianna, the Irish Citizens Army and Cumann na mBan seized various locations throughout Dublin City Center and declared, by reading, by President Pearse, the Irish Republic. "POBLACHT NA h-EIREANN THE PROVISIONAL GOVERNMENT OF THE IRISH REPUBLIC TO THE PEOPLE OF IRELAND IRISHMAN AND IRISHWOMEN: In the name of God and of the dead generations from which she receives her old tradition of nationhood, Ireland, through us, summons her children to her flag and strikes for her freedom. Having organized and trained her manhood through her secret revolutionary organization, the Irish Republican Brotherhood, and through her open military organizations, the Irish Volunteers and the Irish Citizen Army, having patiently perfected her discipline, having resolutely waited for the right moment to reveal itself, she now seizes that moment, and, supported by her exiled children in America and by gallant allies in Europe, but relying in the first on her own strength, she strikes in full confidence of victory. We declare the right of the people of Ireland to the ownership of Ireland, and to the unfettered control of Irish destinies, to be sovereign and indefeasible. The long usurpation of that right by a foreign people and government has not extinguished the right, nor can it ever be extinguished except by the destruction of the Irish people. In every generation the Irish people have asserted their right to national freedom and sovereignty; six times during the past three hundred years they have asserted it in arms. Standing on that fundamental right and again asserting it in arms in the face of the world, we hereby proclaim the Irish Republic as a Sovereign Independent State. And we pledge our lives and the lives of our comrades-in-arms to the cause of its freedom, of its welfare, and of its exaltation among the nations. The Irish Republic is entitled to, and hereby claims, the allegiance of every Irishman and Irish woman. The Republic guarantees religious and civil liberty, equal rights and equal opportunities of all its citizens, an

The youngest daughter of Karl Marx, Eleanor Marx (1855-1898) would go on to make her own mark as an activist. At the age of 16 Marx became her father's secretary, accompanying him to socialist conferences around the world. After the elder Marx's death in 1883, Eleanor became a founding member of the Socialist League in Britain and became a key figure in the European socialist and trade unionist movements. She also took up theatre and translation, believing in the arts as an important tool for the development of socialism and female equality.

At the start of France's Third Republic in March of 1871, Paris was taken over by a socialist and revolutionary government consisting of a combination of workers, immigrants, and radical intellectuals. Although the Paris Commune was violently suppressed by the French Army just two months later, during its brief stint in power the government conceived of and implemented a variety of social and progressive reforms which were far ahead of their time. The short-lived Commune became a flagship event in France's revolutionary history and a rallying cry which would go on to inspire a variety of artists, writers, and future revolutionaries across Europe in the early 20th century.

Where workers are living in deteriorating neighbourhoods, capitalists are eyeing up an easy way to capitalise on their situation. This phenomenon is not an isolated occurrence, rather it is part and parcel of the logic of capitalist expansion. A 1983 study found that in 5 US cities “nearly a quarter (23%) of residents in these urban neighbourhoods were displaced due to eviction, increased rent, or the fact that the house they were renting was sold between 1978-1980”. #ForwardIre

When it comes to Venezuela, it can often seem a distant issue to many working Irish people, even to those of more republican persuasions, but actually what we’re seeing around the world is what we’re seeing today at home. From foreign nations undermining our democracy, organisations meddling in our island’s funds or resources, to media propaganda and military puppeteering. Our small rock on the edge of the Atlantic has seen all of these things in the past and they will define our future if we allow them. #handsoffvenezuela Venezuela - A Very Irish Coup now on cym.ie

#RevolutionaryResolution 3 Alone, what can you truly achieve alone? Don't surrender to the hegemonic ideas imbued in us that we should only struggle alone. Alone you are weaker, alone you are isolated. The REALITY is that the issues we face impact all of us. The REALITY is that those who inflict austerity, who cut our wages, who throw us on the streets are standing together and are organised. Our resolution is for YOU TO DO THE SAME. Only by standing together in a disciplined, organised fashion can we overcome our oppressors. AGITATE - EDUCATE - ORGANISE

Revolutionary Resolution #2 Your health, something that is turned into a commodity within capitalism is something the working class cannot buy back. Once you ruin it or go beyond a certain point, it can't be returned. Our revolutionary resolution to our friends, followers and comrades is to make a conscious effort to look after yourself and your health, to be kind and compassionate to your body. Your physical health is linked at the end of the day to your emotional well being as well. LOOK AFTER YOURSELF!

Revolutionary Resolution #1 Aspire to turn the anger and frustration that you might feel, towards those that make you feel it. Substance abuse is rampant in Ireland and has become part of culture. We believe it exists to help people ease the pressure from a life that is grinding them down. Young people are destroying themselves day in day out because of the society they are forced to endure, because of the conditions within capitalist society. So what is our resolution? To poverty wages and poor working conditions we say: ORGANISE. To increased rent and cost of living we say: ORGANISE. North, East, South and West, the Connolly Youth Movement is organising - JOIN!

60 years of unfaltering and unwavering struggle to build a better society in Cuba that can cater for the basic needs of their people. In Ireland we are told that we're doing well and are wealthy while the newspapers cover queues at food banks before Christmas, overflowing homeless shelters and a never ending trolley crisis. The Republic of Cuba is but a small island, blockaded illegally by the United States. Ireland is a small island too with a small population, but we will persevere in the face of adversity.
