1965 Oldsmobile 442 The #Oldsmobile 4-4-2 (also known as the #442) is a #musclecar produced by Oldsmobile between the 1964 and 1987 model years. Introduced as an option package for US-sold F-85 and #Cutlass models, it became a model in its own right from 1968 to 1971, spawned the #Hurst/Olds in 1968, then reverted to an option through the mid-1970s. The name was revived in the 1980s on the rear-wheel drive #CutlassSupreme and early 1990s as an option package for the new front-wheel drive Cutlass Calais. The "4-4-2" name (pronounced "Four-four-two") derives from the original car's four- #barrelcarburetor, #fourspeed manual transmission, and #dualexhausts (Some maintain that the '2' indicated positive traction rear differential). It was originally written "4-4-2" (with badging showing hyphens between the numerals),and remained hyphenated throughout Oldsmobile's use of the designation. Beginning in 1965, the 4-4-2s standard transmission was a 3 speed manual along with optional 2 speed automatic and 4 speed manual, but were still badged as "4-4-2"s. By 1968 badging was shortened to simply "442", but Oldsmobile brochures and internal documents continued to use the "4-4-2" model designation. 1965 Citroen DS19 Majesty Limousine by #Chapron #Majesty #HenriChapron . The #DS19 would continue to be built in its original guise until #1965. The four-door saloon was the work of #Italian industrial designer and sculptor #FlaminioBertoni and #French #aeronautical engineer #AndreLefebvre . In 1960, a new convertible model was introduced called the ' #Cabriolet de Serie', more commonly known as 'Cabriolet d'Usine'. Its coachwork was the work of Henri Chapron for the #Citroen dealer network. Mostly due to their expensive price tag, just 1,365 examples were sold. They received the same engine and chassis arrangement as the saloon, but required a special frame that was reinforced with side-members and a stronger rear suspension setup. Chapron also created other exclusive body styles on the DS platform, such as the #LeCaddy and #LeDandy . Chapron also built the two-door Concorde Coupe with just 38 of these cars eventually being built. 1938 DELAGE #D8-120 #AEROSPORT COUPE #Coachwork by #LeTourneuretMarchand The #DelageD8 was an eight-cylinder luxury car produced by Delage between 1929 and 1940. The 4061 cc engine of the original D8 placed it in the 23CV car tax band which, for many contemporaries, would also have defined its position high up in the market hierarchy. Delage took a traditional view of its role as a car producer, providing cars in bare chassis form to be bodied and fitted out by #prestigious bespoke builders such as Letourneur et Marchand and #Chapron operating in the #Paris area. The #D8 therefore appeared, throughout its life, in a wide variety of elegant shapes. Delage D8-120 (1937 - 1940) By October #1937 #Delage were also listing at the #Parismotorshow a « #D8120 » model, which was essentially a « #D8100 » with the cylinder bore/diameter increased by 4 mm. Listed power was now #120hp (89 kW) at 4,500 rpm.A long-wheelbase D8 120 was featured prominently in An #American in #Paris . In 1939 the larger engine from the D8-120 also found its way into the D8-100. However, with the declaration of war in 1939 and the invasion of #northernFrance , in 1940, passenger car production came to an end, as the #Delahaye plant was taken over by the #Germanmilitary occupation. The #300SD sedan ( #Americanmarket only) had a #turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-five diesel engine developed from the #C111 experimental vehicle. In September 2013, a 1979 W116 300 SD was campaigned in the 24 Hours of #LeMons at #carolinamotorsportspark , where it completed 166 laps at an average speed of 54.8 MPH. It won the highest prize of the event, the Index of Effluency. Other than mild issues relating to brake and tire wear, no mechanical issues were encountered. After numerous modifications to handling, the car was again run in February 2014 at #BarberMotorsportspark in #Birmingham , AL. It placed 44th, but turned 281 laps at an average pace of 59.6 MPH. One of the key advantages of the 300 SD is its exceptional fuel economy on track, where it burns just 2.5 GPH (Roughly 18MPG). In July 2014 it placed first in class at Sebring. Tenth generation 1971–1976 1976 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD LIMOUSINE . In 1976 the grille saw a new finer crosshatching pattern.Cornering lamps got new horizontal chrome trim while taillamps gained a new bold look. A Controlled (limited-slip) Differential was included for extra traction. An optional illuminated entry and theft deterrence system was optional. A new Freedom battery never needed water. New turbine vaned and wire wheel covers were offered. A new option locked the doors when the transmission lever was shifted to "Drive". #Cadillac also offered Track Master, a computerized skid prevention system that automatically pumped the back brakes in an emergency situation to shorten stopping distance. New options included a push-button Weather Band built into the AM/FM stereo signal-seeking radio. Of the 15 standard and six optional Firemist body colors, 13 were new this year. The Series 75 remained the only American-built vehicle that was designed and built strictly as a limousine. Big 75s had two separate automatic climate control systems. Interior choices were #Medici #crushed #velour #fabric in #black or #darkblue , or #MagnanKnit in #lightgray . Full-width #foldingseats held three extra passengers. Passengers could use the control panel to raise/lower windows, turn on reading lamps, operate radio, or (in #limousines ) raise/lower the central partition. There were large fixed quarter windows behind the rear doors. #Electronicfuelinjection was optional on the #500 cu in (8.2 L) OHV #V8. 1984 NISSAN PRESIDENT 4.4L . (1973–1989) ( #250series ) The second generation, designated #H250, was introduced in #1973. It received a complete upgrade inside and out, while the chassis was essentially the same. The #V8 engine had its displacement increased to 4.4 litres and was now designated #Y44E, while a 3.0-litre version was still available. The #Sovereign trim was added in #1977 . The #H250 #President underwent an updated redesign in 1982, with suspension improvements, a larger fuel tank, and the replacement of the round headlights with square halogen versions while maintaining the exterior and interior appearance. These include upgraded wood siding and modernized aluminum alloy wheels that lost their gold colored inlays in favor of gunmetal grey metallic. #Chrysler also introduced an electrocoat primer for better rust proofing and all exterior colors were now applied in a two-stage base-clearcoat system. In #1988, #Jeep's first full year under Chrysler, 14,117 #GrandWagoneer s were produced . Many improvements were made for the 1989–1991 model year series, including a quality replacement for the earlier, leak-prone air conditioning compressor, the addition of the visually identifiable rear wiper/washer assembly, as well as a general improvement in fit and finish. An interior overhead console, taken from Chrysler's popular minivans, was also added. This functional console featured much brighter map lights, an outside temperature sensor and compass, a storage compartment for sunglasses and an infrared remote-controlled key-less entry system. The last three model years also featured several new exterior paint colors and the tan interior color was replaced with a lighter color that Jeep called " #sand". The "new" exterior colors included the rare hunter #greenmetallic that was only available in the 1991 model year and is the paint color of the 1991 Grand Wagoneer in the #Chryslermuseum , as well as the color of the very last Grand Wagoneer ever made. #classiccars #classiccar

Assembly : #Japan : #Okazaki, #Aichi The #Challenger name was revived in late 1977 for the 1978 model year for a version of the early #MitsubishiGalantLambda coupe. It was known overseas as the #MitsubishiSapporo/ #mitsubishiScorpion and sold through #Dodge dealers as a captive import, originally as the " #DodgeColtChallenger ". It was identical except in color and minor trim to the #PlymouthSapporo with the Dodge version emphasizing sportiness, with bright colors and tape stripes, while the #Plymouth emphasized luxury, with more subdued trim. The cars were slightly restyled in 1981 with revised headlights and other minor cosmetic changes. Both cars were sold until 1983, when they were replaced by the Conquest, #Laser and #Daytona . The car retained the frameless hardtop styling of the old Challenger, but had smaller engines (inline-fours instead of the six and eight-cylinder engines of the old Challenger) and was a long way off in performance from its namesake. Nevertheless, it acquired a reputation as a reasonably brisk performer in its class, not least because of its available 2.6 L " #Hemi " engine with 105 hp, Four-cylinder engines of this size had not usually been built due to inherent vibration, but #Mitsubishi pioneered the use of balance shafts to help dampen this effect, and the Challenger was one of the first vehicles to bring this technology to the American market; it has since been licensed to many other manufacturers. #classiccars #classiccar

1983 BMW 745i Turbocharged . The #745i was a high-performance model sold in left-hand-drive #Europeanmarkets from 1979–1986. It was initially powered by the #M102 engine, which is a #turbocharged 3.2 L version of the #M30 straight-six engine, producing 188 kW (252 hp) at 9 PSI of boost.In 1982, the engine was upgraded to the #M106, which increased the capacity to 3.4 litres and the fuel injection system changed from #Jetronic to #Motronic. Boost pressure was reduced to #6PSI ,however power output was unchanged. All #M102 cars were built with a 3-speed ZF 3HP22 automatic transmission. All M106 cars were built with a 4-speed ZF #4HP22 automatic transmission. WIth only 1,500 sold 3.8 L (232 cu in) #Essex V6 4.9 L (302 cu in) 5.0L #WindsorV8 Following the downsizing and adoption of the Panther platform for the 1980 model year, the #Lincoln division was faced with a critical issue. After the discontinuation of the compact #LincolnVersailles early in 1980, The seventh-generation introduced two features as industry firsts: gas-charged shock absorbers and self-sealing tires. the Lincoln Continental was given a styling update for the 1984 model year. The body was fitted with flush-fitting front and rear bumpers and revised taillamps. While not fitted with the composite headlights of the Mark VII, the front fascia of the Continental was revised with an angled grille flanked by recessed quad headlamps and larger wrap-around marker lights incorporating cornering lamps, which made it more aerodynamic looking. On the inside, the doors and dashboard were fitted with satin-black trim (accented with low-gloss genuine walnut veneer for the 1986 model year only). Other changes through the rest of production run were primarily limited to paint colors and upholstery pattern details.The car continued thereafter with few changes. All models were also fitted with Ford's door-mounted Keyless Entry System, not to be confused with a Remote Keyless Entry System. After the 1985 model year, the Valentino Designer Series was discontinued in favor of the Givenchy Series. Building on a worldwide record sales success in 1963, the #Valiant moved into 1964 with design changes giving better economy, reliability and performance. Changes in the 1964 Valiant included a restyled front end featuring a new grille with a horizontal bars. A "Valiant" medallion was placed at the center of the grille where the bars formed a flat bulge. Vertical taillamps replaced the previous horizontal items. The ring-style rear deck decoration was replaced with a Valiant script located at the right-hand corner. 1960 Lincoln Continental Mark V Limousine by #HessandEisenhardt To compete with the factory limousines offered by both #Cadillac and #Chrysler, in #1959 and #1960 #Lincoln offered a #Continental formal #sedan and # limousine, built to order by #Ohio coachbuilders Hess & Eisenhardt, the same shop that built U.S. #Presidentiallimousines . These cars were based upon standard Continental sedans, but were outfitted with padded formal rooflines, more luxurious custom interior fittings, and, in the case of the limousine, a division window Alongside the Mark III, IV, and V, there are two additional models of the third-generation Continental. In 1959, Lincoln added the Limousine and Town Car bodystyles; the latter marked the first use of the Town Car name by Lincoln. Available only in black, both versions were built with a model-specific formal rear roofline with a padded roof; the Limousine featured a partition between the front and rear seats. The roofline of Town Car and Limousine was designed in an effort to avoid extending the wheelbase; the deletion of the reverse-slant rear window allowed for the rear seat to be moved rearward several inches. The 1959–1960 Town Car and Limousine are among the rarest Lincoln vehicles ever sold; only 214 examples of the $9,200 Town Car were produced and only 83 examples of the $10,200 Limousine were produced. #classiccars #classiccar

1955 CHEVROLET BEL AIR 2-DOOR The 1955 Chevrolet (sometimes referred to as '55 Chevy) is an automobile that was made by Chevrolet in 1955. It is considered a huge turning point for the manufacturer and a major success. It was available in three models: the 150, 210, and Bel Air. Also called: #ChevroletBelAir #Chevrolet210Delray #Chevrolet150 #ChevroletNomad #ChevroletSedanDelivery The ' #55Chevy was the first successful #Chevrolet with an optional #V8engine . #Chevrolet had produced an earlier car with a V8 in 1918 (Chevrolet Series D), which used a 36-horsepower overhead valve 288-cubic-inch V8, but it remained in production for only a year. In 1955, Chevrolet decided to fit its new car with an overhead valve V8 engine design, which was similar to the 1949 #Oldsmobile " #Rocket88 " V8 engine which was an earlier #GM success. Chevy's new 265-cubic-inch overhead valve V8 was designed to be smaller, lighter, and more powerful than previous V8s in the auto industry, and would come to be known as the " #Chevysmallblock ". However, the new #smallblock engine in the '55 Chevy had some early teething issues. Some problems existed with #crackedpistons , there was no integrated #oilfilter, so an external bypass filter was offered as a factory or dealer option. Those who did not order the engine with the "oil filter option" dealt with a high frequency of oil changes. Even with the oil filter option, only part of the oil was actually filtered (the oil going through the #thermostat). This issue was corrected for the next year when a full flow oil filter system was added to the engine. Additionally, to keep performance and mileage levels high required #sparkplug and ignition points to be replaced on a regular basis. But other than those issues it was an easy to maintain engine. The small block Chevy V8 became so popular that Chevrolet still sells it today as an over the counter replacement engine or better known as a "crate engine". There have been various changes made to the engine to modernize it since its introduction in 1954 however the basic design of the original 265 remains in place. #classiccars #classiccar

1959 Desoto Firedome Convertible The #DeSotoFiredome was a full-size automobile produced between 1952 to 1959 by #DeSoto automobiles, a division of the #ChryslerCorporation . Introduced as DeSoto's premium line of vehicles in 1953 and 1954, the Firedome also occupied the least expensive position in the model lineup during 1955 and 1956 model years before it was reclassified as a mid-range vehicle offered by #DeSoto between 1957 and 1959. In an attempt to attract buyers, #Chrysler offered the 1959 DeSoto Firedome in 26 solid colors and 190 two-tone finishes. By the end of the 1959 model year, #Chrysler was #struggling to find buyers for its DeSoto automobiles. Despite the wide variety of models available, consumers shunned DeSoto automobiles as rumor circulated that Chrysler would phase out the marque. A padded dash was standard. #Firedome production ended at the end of the #1959 model year. For the 1960 model year DeSoto offered two models, the #Fireflite and the #Adventurer. For model year 1961, a model named only "DeSoto" was sold as a two-door hardtop and four-door hardtop. The end of the DeSoto marquecame on November 30, #1960, 48 days after the #1961 models were introduced, ending 32 years of production. #classiccars #classiccar
