We want everything NOW. We don’t think about the long term and therefore are crippled by the short term gains. - If we don’t accomplish something we want to achieve straight away OR we see others accomplishing what we want to, often we become frustrated and therefore will take short term shortcuts for short term gains. - We lack patience and perspective. If you can focus on the MACRO of your life and what you want to accomplish and how much time you have to do that BUT ALSO work and put in the effort day in and day out on the MICRO scale consistently... you will get to where you want to be. - Do not give up on your long term visions for your life to take shortcuts for SHORT TERM gains... short term will eventually cripple you. I was told to bench press, get my strength up, and it would magically appear. ~ 😤Not only did my chest not grow, but I ended up with large anterior delts, and triceps. When I think back, I didn’t feel much of anything in my chest, despite my technique being on point. ~ 😎Before my personal training career, I stumbled upon some discussions that were talking about training the muscle, and not the movement. This fascinated me. ~ 😅That’s all I had been doing until then - making sure my technique was great, looked like it should, and was getting better at the movement. ~ 👍I should have been training the muscle. You may have heard this referred to also as the “mind muscle connection” ~ ☝️For purposes of getting bigger, more shapely muscles - you can’t *just* do the movement. Even if an exercise is touted as the “end all, be all” - If you don’t feel it (ditch it at least for now) and find ones you do. ~ 🤝This exercise here, which I learned from DC Training via Dante Trudel, changed my chest’s look entirely. ~ 🥊I took this exercise, and got better at it. I made sure I felt my chest do the work the entire time, and got progressively stronger at it. I had to go very light, but that didn’t matter - I felt it. ~ 🙌This is a very cool flip on an old school exercise. You can see me shifting in my seat - I did this solely to show you how you can position yourself to work the various parts of the chest. It takes out the triceps from the movement, and turns it into a “power fly” of sorts. ~ ❓How I do this one: ✅Sink shoulders down, with your chest up ✅Scapula/shoulder blades squished back ✅Controlling the negative until I feel the stretch, slight pause, and push entirely from my chest ✅Pausing for a second at the contraction, flexing my pecs as hard as I can ✅Weight is on the the heels of my palms, not on my fingers ✅Reps were higher (10-20) to ensure my chest did the work, and not my shoulders ✅I started my chest workout with 3-5 sets of these. ~ 👌If your gym has one of these, Try this exercise out. Yes my form is shit. But my strength is going up. I once heard “a stronger muscle is a bigger muscle”. Don’t for sake your form, but don’t be afraid to go heavier either. 💪💥

I haven't been in the best place mentally the last few months. It's been pretty bad the last few weeks in particular. My accident left me with a lot of scars that can't be seen. Now stack that on top of the physical injuries that I have let drag me down and I pretty much feel worthless. I don't know what snapped exactly but it all came to a head last night. I haven't been able to pull more than 185 without feeling terrible pain/instability in my SI and lower back. I said fuck it and pulled 225 for a set of 12 (I think) it sucked. I was miserable my face felt like it was going to pop and my entire body felt destroyed. Was my form perfect? No. But for once I didn't hurt inside. It's true what they say.
