One little boy. Two big trees.
Big Trees State Park was breath taking. We spent hours meandering through the trails and finding magical spots like this one 👆 to explore and feel the immense energy of the ancient forest.
Being among living organisms that were alive when Christ walked the Earth is so awing, it really makes you feel the grandness and vastness of nature.
We stayed at this particular spot, called the mother and son trees, for quite a while. The small gap between the two trees made the perfect playing spot for the kids.... and adults 😁. And it provided the most beautiful light so I might have taken a picture or two..... or a hundred or two.... 😁.
This grove of redwoods are Sequoia redwoods. They get very wide and grow in higher, dryer elevations than the coastal redwoods, who need lower, more humid growing conditions and tend to grow taller and thinner than their broad bodied cousins. 🌲🌲
We've been to quite a few redwood groves here in California and each have their own personalities, each just as magical.
Have you been to any redwood groves? What's your favorite??
