On strength days we prefer to lift at night, obtaining proper caloric intake throughout the feeding window is important fuel to really push your limits and hit those PRs. Fasting not only allows us to eat an abundance of calories in one sitting but to indulge in some of our favorite foods as well. This method keeps eating exciting, rather than a monotonous routine that leads to hard crashes. I’ve been off my diet and my program for about a week now. Usually my body tends to gain weight very easily, but after today’s workout (I was expecting to be about 209lbs lol) but to my surprise I gained only 1 pound throughout the week. I’m at 203lbs now and i had a very strong bench session hitting all my 5 sets of 6 reps with 225lbs. I’m aiming to get down to about 190lbs before I decide whether I should do a mini clean bulk or cut down some more. Also shoutout to @alphalete for the awesome T-shirt. A study conducted by the University of Chicago [1] divided 10 volunteers into two groups and made both groups maintain a calorie deficit. The only difference between the two groups was their duration of sleep. Group 1 slept 6 hours a day, whereas Group 2 slept 8 hours a day. After 2 weeks, both groups lost 6.6 lbs. in bodyweight. But here's the catch, the group that slept 8 hours a day maintained far more muscle (about 50% more) than the sleep-deprived group. This is not a coincidence, other studies [2, 3] also show that sleep deprivation increases muscle loss. So make sure you are sleeping about 7-9 hours a day [4]. This will benefit you in more ways than just increased muscle preservation. For instance: higher energy levels [5], increased satiety [6] and higher anabolic hormone levels [7]. One of the things I see a lot, in the gym and on social media, is people using momentum to help them with a lift. On a press, they bounce the weight off their chest, on a row, they use the momentum of the swing, etc. The proper way to lift is to come to a pause, this way the muscle doing the work is forced to do all the work. Check out the two presses here... on each, there is a pause prior to the lift. REGARDLESS OF THE WEIGHT! The weight we use should not matter in form, or proper training. In the first videos, I’m doing 100 # DB Presses; and still come to a pause on each and every rep. In the second video, I’m using 35 # KB to do Incline KB Presses, again coming to a full pause. Break through the wall was my goal at the end of the night... But it's kinda tough when most of the lifts before already tore me up. Chest and Bis today. Sorry I said I would post a whole weeks worth last week but I ended up going out of town. I tried to PR tonight but failed pretty miserably so I did all of this following it... thanks @connharr for coming out and joining the... "fun" and also gettin some clips. Extremely excited for leg day tomorrow! Also got a kinda crazy forearm pump from all the biceps I did today currently can't touch my shoulders, anyone else have this problem?
