We all had a horrible scare this morning when Jade somehow managed to slam an open window shut after her, leaving her squeezed between the window and the screen (on the second floor, no less) with nothing but her restraint keeping her from bursting/scratching through the screen and falling out. I was in the shower and thought Opal’s whining outside of the door was just the usual cry for attention, so I continued with my morning routine. I walked out to see the most terrifying thing in my life, Jade OUTSIDE my CLOSED SECOND STORY WINDOW, and dove across the room to let Jade back in. She was so stressed that she was wide-eyed and panting, which scared the hell out of me and had me contemplating taking her to pet ER, so Opal and I stayed on the floor with her and fussed until she finally stopped. She doesn’t seem to have any injuries, as the window was cleanly shut behind her and not on her. I won’t be keeping the windows open when I’m not in the room moving forward. I was out of sight for a total of an hour and change and that was still enough for all this.
Here’s a video of Opal continuing to fuss over a now calm Jade.
