SEC Rank: 8
4⭐️: 8 (1 hasn’t signed)
Top position group: DLine
Top player: Zacch Pickens
Most underrated: Jammie Robinson
Will Muschamp signed one of the most underrated classes in the country. A plethora of the talent in this class consists of guys that were arguably very slept on in their recruitment, and could become major players in the future, especially the 2 WRs (Xavier Leggette, Keveon Mullins) who will have the difficult task of replacing the production of Deebo Samuel and Bryan Edwards later on in their career. The position group Muschamp did the best job on, however, was the defensive Line. Adding 4 stars Joseph Anderson, Jacquaze Sorrells and Jahkeem Green (assuming he qualifies and signs)
But the most high profile of signees on that front is 5⭐️ Zacch Pickens. Pickens chose to stay home, giving SC arguably their highest ranked signee since JeDaveon Clowney. (And he plays the same position). Pickens has almost the perfect frame that coaches look for in a DL, at 6’4 290. And has elite run stopping ability, as well as being a great pass rusher. If all goes right, I fully expect Pickens to be a future first round NFL Draft pick in the next 3-4 years.
Another player that could be a steal in the draft down the road is probably one of the biggest steals in the 2019 recruiting class, and that’s CB Jammie Robinson. The Lee County native is arguably the best special teams return man in high school football. He’s also an outstanding run support nickel corner/safety that hits hard, and is always one of the first to the ball carrier. He has good size for a DB at 5’11, 200 and I think will make a great career out of not only special teams but being a very efficient corner.
CLASS GRADE: A-
South Carolina arguably has some of the top talent evaluators in the country. They signed a ton of underrated talent and filled all of their position needs. Will this translate to wins? Who knows, but it’s a good start.
