And we are live!! Our new collection is available online and we are so excited!! Just shy of 1 year since we launched SEPTEMBER last June 2018, Collection Nº2 won’t disappoint.
It’s been a beautiful whirlwind of a first year, filled with some amazing highs and some low lows. My career, prior to SEPTEMBER, was a designer working for big brands such as @patagonia @thenorthface @jcrew. All I had to do was design. Well, not only design but let’s just say I didn’t have to wear many hats at my jobs. They don’t make a hat big enough to fit around all the hats I’m wearing now. From inventory management to email/web design, from bookkeeping to swimsuit design, from swimsuit fittings to social media management, to a million other things that need to be done during the week - I do it all.
Needless to say, when I started SEPTEMBER, I jumped in with both feet straight into the deep end. I knew what I was doing, but I also had no idea what I was doing. No matter how many times people would tell me what it’s like to own your own business (I even grew up with parents who were self employed photographers), I could never have guessed. It’s been hard not to compare myself to other brands success and growth. In the first few months I thought I was doing so well, until I read a story about a mother who created a pair of leggings for her daughter and she sold thousands in the first month and she didn’t even have a brand. That put things into perspective.
But at the end of the day, I have absolutely no regrets and couldn’t be happier and more proud of where SEPTEMBER is at this very moment. We have had some pretty amazing accomplishments in our first year that I’m really proud of - one being our epic collaboration with @kassiasurf (available now!) and most recently written about in the @latimes as one of six women owned surf brands to take note of!
So, to all my fellow business owners, I have the utmost respect for each and everyone of you. Don’t succumb to pressure or compare yourself to other businesses because slow and steady wins the race. I can’t wait to see what the coming year brings! at Byron Bay, New South Wales
