One. Half. Mile.
8 bags of garbage.
Paper. Plastic. Glass.
Styrofoam. Fast food bags. Cups. Straws.
Just a short list of some of the things I picked up.
Today is Earth day.
Our Earth provides us with abundance. Earth holds the ability to sustain life. Providing us with food and water. But, only as long as we take care of it. The more we liter and produce waste the more we hurt Earth.
Littering plays a role in not only the health of the environment but for us humans as well. Littering causes toxic substances to be found in our water sources, smother plants, cause fires, become a host for harmful bacteria, kill animals etc.
I challenge everyone, especially those with children, to go out, take a walk and clean up any trash you see along the way. Not only will your health benefit from getting up off the couch and being physically active. You can teach the next generation about the harmful effects of littering and work toward creating a healthy environment for all living things.
Other ways you can help the environment is to reduce, reuse and recycle any goods you use. Start composting. Stop using plastic bags. Stop drinking from straws or water bottles that cannot be reused. Go out and plant trees. Plant a garden to help sustain your own food needs. Walk, bike or grab a public transit ride where you need to go to cut back on vehicle emissions.
There is one Earth and it is our duty to do what we can to provide it with what it need in order for it to continue to provide us with what we need to survive. at Fowlerville, Michigan
