From February 22 - March 23 at Pierre Marie Giraud (@pierremariegiraud) in Brussels, Belgium, is an exhibition of stunning works by Artaxis member, Morten Løbner Espersen (@mortenespersen). The exhibition statement reads "Terra Nova, the personal exhibition of Morten Løbner Espersen is a saga. He builds suspense in a series of chapters with cliffhangers: many layers of glazes and several firings. Every showcased piece has pulled through the process, intact and sublimated by the hardship and hazards. In Terra Nova, Løbner Espersen unfolds his ornamental experiments and glaze mastery on two semantically opposite shapes. On necked vases, the ornament devours and takes over the volume in an exuberant demonstration of Horror Vacui fulfillment. In contrast, he makes Moon Drops vases, in which the glazes disrupt the simple lines of the shape. Frozen in their momentum, their surfaces appear in transformation. The dialogue between the shape and the choice of color combinations has always been crucial for the artist. In Terra Nova, he is adding a new parameter in his work with a change of scale. From objects to architectural elements, two large vessels engender new interactions between artwork, body, and space."
