Breakfast this morning was chocolate chip mini weetabix, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. Mila was pretty up and down last night and ended up in beside us. Breakfast this morning was a dippy fried egg and toast with smashed avocado. This wasn't particularly well received and Mila only ate with my help. She didn't seem to enjoy it at all so she had some raspberries too. Every time I try a different breakfast with Mila there's always something else that makes me wonder whether she just likes what she likes or she's off from teething, a bad night or in this case her jags! The little lamb is a bit grumpy and very clingy so this morning has consisted of lots of cuddles, dancing and some Paw Patrol! Dinner tonight was ceaser salad, avocado slices and smoked haddock and sweet potato croquettes. This didn't go down well at all 😅 Mila ate the croquettes and that was it. She turned her nose up at the ceaser dressing and squirmed at the avocado because I sprinkled it with lemon juice to stop it going brown 😂 She ended up with half a fruit scone and a cheesestring courtesy of Dad 😂 The scone was smushed up and I'm pretty sure the cheesestring went to Gimli 🤷‍♀️ . Mila went to bed early, the little lamb was getting a bit grumpy! All the more time to enjoy the quiet on our decking with a glass of wine. 🇺🇸 A recipe for a birthday cake without baking, which we tried on Adam's 3rd birthday last Saturday. A few days ago we promised you a recipe - chocolate version for a parent, coconut cubes for children: . * 1 kg quark * 600 ml yoghurt * 1 cup of coconut shrims * 50 g gelatine * 1/2 cup of hot water * 1/2 cup of xylitol * 1 bar of dark chocolate * 2 tbsp coconut oil . Mix together quark, yoghurt and xylitol, add coconut shrims. Dissolve gelatine in hot water, and slowly pour it to the quark dough, stirring occasionally. Top with melted chocolate with coconut oil. . And then remove from the fridge... and you can all sing "happy birthday" and blow out the candles! . . 🇵🇱 Przepis na tort urodzinowy bez pieczenia, u nas doskonale sprawdził się na 3 urodzinach Adasia, które były w zeszłą sobotę. Dinner tonight was a pasta bake boat! I toasted a tortilla "boat" sprayed with garlic fry light and filled it with pasta made with my hidden veggie sauce from the freezer stash and chopped chicken. I then topped it with grated cheese and popped it back in the oven for 5 minutes. This was quite a big portion so I offered Mila half first. She ate all of the torilla (no surprises there #carbfiend) and most of her pasta, so I offered her the other half and again she ate all of the tortilla and about 2/3 of the pasta all in! Mila's early rise resulted in a 2 hour nap this afternoon 🙌 and she's currently out for the count. She has her 12 month immunisations tomorrow... does anyone have any last minute advice at all? Dinner tonight was chicken korma, curry rice, peas and sweetcorn followed by a jelly pot. Mila ate pretty much all of this and practically inhaled her jelly, naturally. I served her food in biteszie pieces as we've been doing lately and she's still doing so well with actually eating instead of throwing! Just need to hope she keeps it up 😅 We had the BEST day today! We spent the morning at the beach letting Mila explore and Gimli run wild. Then we found the most incredible ice cream shop! So naturally we all had to have something 😂 Mila ate all of her own ice cream and half of mine while Darren enjoyed his all to himself 😒 Seriously though, if you're ever in Troon hit up @theicecreamfactorytroon ! All of their ice cream is homemade, the staff are so lovely and the selection is brilliant. Honestly some of the best ice cream I've ever had and we all know I love me some ice cream 😂 Mila's been scrubbed clean and is currently fast asleep. Right now Reed seems to prefer plain veggies over meat. If I try and serve him meat by itself without a sauce or being cooked into something he’a not too excited about it. These meatballs were a great solution. I served them a few days in a row and he started to lose interest so next time I’ll freeze half the batch if my husband and I don’t eat the rest. My First Vegetable 🥦 Baby C favourite vegetable until today #broccoli is packed with fibre of course and Vit C to help with iron absorption 👍🏻 In my last post, I have covered why I embarked on blw and how the mess and preparing food could be a double work for me. However, of course eventually I grow on blw way because of many reasons . 1️⃣You can introduce food as it is. “The more processed the food is, the less nutritious it becomes” So, during the first part of blw I give her food at its pure form. And best part is, it’s so easy to prepare. You can either steam/bake them. What I do mostly is steam them! (Easiest way😏) Esp for veges. . Steaming keeps healthy nutrients retained. Plus it is soft enough for baby to chew . — 2️⃣It somehow guides you to serve well balanced diet. As I prepare and serve new food, I become more interested to learn and aware of each food nutrition. So in a way, whenever I want to give her food nowadays I unconciously serve with a guide: ✔️Protein (iron), ✔️Vitamin C, ✔️Fibre, ✔️Carbs and ✔️Fats . — 3️⃣Less stress I am sure you experience how anxious and stressful it is when baby refuse to eat. But with blw I develop a trust on my baby on how much she needs. I highly recommend @borntoeatbook if you are starting blw journey with your little ones. Of course there are times like when she falls sick, I will still go back to spoon-fed her with some food if she did not eat well, just to help her recover faster. There is really no black and white. For me, I adopt blw as much as it helps me and baby C . One pot orzo pasta with spinach, asparagus & parmesan . . This week is the first time I am posting a recipe of my own! Some of you may follow my account @whatwolfwants and the full instructions can be found on that page. I love this dish because of how simple it is so make and packed with veggies including asparagus which just gets me in the summer mood! You can absolutely add in any other veggies you have on hand. 🇺🇸 We managed to buy some plums, so it is high time to do something with them. They are delicious on their own, but we have another idea as how to use them - warm with barley grits. . Here comes the recipe! Ours are already warm, but soon they will be gone! . * 3 cups of milk * 3 tbs coconut oil * 1/2 cup of barley grits * ca. 300 g plums * 1/2 tbsp cinnamon * a pinch of cardamon . Pour in a pan milk and oil, add barley grits. Cook for about 20 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally. Remove stones from the plums, and fry the plums on a pan for about 5 minutes, with some water, cinnamon and cardamon. Put the barley grits in processor and mix it, pour into bowls, and top with plums. . This is a version for kids, for adults you may sweeten it up a bit. We prefer it with almond milk and xylitol. . Są pyszne same w sobie, ale nam przyszedł do głowy jeszcze inny sposób na ich wykorzystanie - podanie ich z kaszą jęczmienną na ciepło. . Łapcie przepis! U nas jeszcze gorące, ale już znikają! . * 3 szklanki mleka * 3 łyżki oleju kokosowego * 1/2 szklanki kaszy jęczmiennej * ok. 300 g śliwek * 1/2 łyżeczki cynamonu * odrobina kardamonu . Do garnka wlej mleko i olej, dodaj kaszę. Gotuj przez ok.20 minut na małym ogniu, często mieszając. Ze śliwek usuń pestki, podsmaż je na patelni ok. 5 minut z odrobiną wody, cynamonem i kardamonem. Kaszę zblenduj, rozlej do miseczek, a na wierzch wyłóż śliwki. . To jest wersja dla dzieci, dorośli mogą sobie odrobinę posłodzić taką kaszę. Według nas najlepsza jest z napojem migdałowym i ksylitolem. . What’s the best way to offer veggies to babies?🙋‍♀️ . 🍠Sure, there’s many different ways to offer veggies to babies (ex: purées, ground, chopped, coarsley chopped, meltable solids, firm chewables, crunchy foods, mixed textures, chewey, regular soft solids... etc etc). . 🥦My personal favorite (for babies who are transitioning to table foods) is to offer “stick-shaped” or “french-fry style” veggies. . ✨These easy butternut squash fries are a perfect example of how I would serve this delicious and nutritious squash to baby. The crispiness of the outside skin provides just enough alerting texture to “wake-up” babies mouth for chewing and swallowing (proprioceptive input) but it’s internal texture is soft and easily mashable against the tongue and gummed molars. . 🥕The stick-shape enhances babies hand-to-mouth coordination skills and encourages baby to place the food in their side molars, the best place to start grinding and mashing up foods. . 🥕I like to cue babies on food placement by visually modeling this action myself👩‍👧by placing the same food in my side molars and saying “crunch-crunch!” . 🌈By the way, you can make the same stick-shaped veggies for babes with carrots, sweet potatoes, regular potatoes & asparagus and they are great way to get toddlers to enjoy more veggies too! . #hhfoodtips

I roasted a big batch of beets this morning so I went back through my old posts and pulled up my recipe for Blender Berry Beet Muffins. Ava was around 12 months when I first made them. They're perfect for babies who have just started baby led weaning because there so dense. Pancakes bites Ingredients: 90 gr yoghurt 1 farm egg 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter 1 ripe banana 75 gr of flour 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder. So we are after some BLW advice! This little one refuses anything you try to give him off a spoon! He's so independent he insists on feeding himself everything! But I find I'm stressing constantly over what to give him to eat! He's 8months but still no teeth yet which I find really limits the foods he can eat, I'm just running out of ideas to keep him interested in food! Anyone have any suggestions or advice??

Dinner tonight was hunters chicken, baby potatoes in herb butter and peas followed by a yogurt lolly. I made the hunters chicken with frozen buttermilk chicken breast strips, @millyskidchup bbq sauce and grated cheese. All of this was cut into bitesize bits and made for a very successful dinner. Mila also had a second bit of chicken! We've had such a lovely day together playing at home, drawing, stickering (her new favourite 😂) and just being silly. We BOTH managed a 2 hour nap this afternoon as well. Couldn't believe it when I woke up and she was still snoozing away haha! Breakfast this morning was banana oat pancakes with blueberries, natural yogurt topping, sprinkles, banana slices and raspberries. I made these super quick, 3 ingredient pancakes for Mila this morning for a change and I'm so glad I did because she loved them! She ate everything on her plate and we surived another meal without her alter ego, Picasso, joining us 👏 The pancake mix I made, made 4 little person sized pancakes. I gave Mila two and have frozen the other two to see how they get on! I'll post up the recipe for these later for anyone who's interested 😊 On another note, I'm pleased to report that I have no hangover and GREATLY enjoyed my bottle of wine. 🥜Yummy peanutty chicken dippers with Mango & Coconut ice cream 🥥 . . This weeks recipe is by @my_foodie_baby and she said is lovely served with coconut rice. Recipe and instructions below- you can also put the chicken on skewers for older children/adult plates! . To make the chicken satay: INGREDIENTS 500g chicken breast mini fillets Half bunch coriander (15g) Thumb sized piece ginger 2 garlic bulbs 1tsp curry powder 1tsp turmeric 1/2 tsp cumin Fresh chopped chilli (optional) 2 spring onions 4 tblsp peanut butter 1 lime . METHOD 1. Chop the coriander, onions, garlic & ginger and add to the blender 2. Add the juice of the lime, peanut butter & herbs with a little drop of water 3. Whizz it all up together in the blender 4. Coat the chicken in the marinade & leave for at least 2 hours for the chicken to absorb the flavours 5. SMOOTHIE BOWL SUNDAYS 🍍 Breakfast this morning was a smoothie bowl made with 1/4 of an avocado (I would have used more had we had more!), frozen pineapple, papaya and mango chunks, a spoonful of thick yogurt and some unsweetened oat milk. Once it was all blended I topped it with desiccated coconut, raspberries, squished blueberries and chia seeds. As you can see Mila ended up having this in one of our trusty @nomnomkids pouches 😂 She wasn't a fan of the cold! Dinner tonight was a sausage traybake made with venison and cranberry sausages, roasted sweet potato and peppers, halloumi and corn on the cob with a maple sauce and crispy breadcrumbs followed by a jelly pot. We had a mixed reaction to the new plate tonight. I didn't take Mila long to realise it wasn't stuck to her highchair 🤦‍♀️ but she done exceptionally well with this meal in terms of throwing and only threw one thing on the floor! She ate all of (and extra) of the sausage and halloumi, hardly any sweet potato and none of the peppers. Everything had to be broken up again 🙈 the jelly was demolished. Toots is currently in bed, I have a washing on the go and then you guessed it... bedtime for this gal 😌 and when I say bedtime, I mean lie awake for hours, check on Mila a thousand times, sneak some chocolate and try to force the dog to cuddle with me. What can I say, I live the rock and roll life 😎 For anyone interested in the plate, it came from Aldi, £7.99 and comes in two different designs! Mad love to my brother in law, Mila's favourite Uncle Jamie, for giving me the heads up about this. Breakfast this morning was half a toasted muffin with smashed avocado and scrambled eggs topped with italian herbs and black pepper. I thought I'd switch it up from our usual since we were up early doors today 🙄 Either Mila is a creature of habit or it was too early to eat because she hardly touched this and tried to throw most of it on the floor! Dinner tonight was chicken satay and vegetable paella. DISCLAIMER: Frozen buttermilk chicken strips, packet of satay sauce, Tilda kids rice. Not one single f*ck given 😎 Mila hardly touched this and ended up with a frozen yogurt lolly and two mini cherry rice cakes - she actually only ate one. The Health Visitor was due at half 10 and didn't turn up, my mum and dad took Mila for a couple of hours (full chat aka ramble on my stories) and then at ten to twelve JUST as I was falling asleep the HV appeared at my door. NOT OKAY HUN 👊 Anyway, she's coming back on Friday after she got the time wrong, Mila was a saint for my mum, good for me until it came to dinner/bedtime and then all holy hell broke loose. She practically chewed her hand off so is dosed up on anbesol and nurofen the poor lamb, swollen gums are telling me more teeth are on their way. Yay 🙃 I was planning a treat dinner of nachos and ice cream for dinner but I'm 100% diving straight into the ice cream and then to bed. This is my super easy go-to porridge fingers recipe.... •preheat oven to 180c or gas mark 5 •line a loaf tin or smallish baking tray •mash 1 banana (or use 2 half’s which neither child finished for breakfast!!) •add 2 cups of oats •also add 1 cup milk (or dairy free alternative), and literally whatever chopped or smushed fruit you’ve got to hand... I added chopped pear as I was prepping a picnic lunch for later anyway and also chucked 1/2 an Ellas Kitchen pouch in that was left over from M’s porridge at breakfast • this time I added 1 spoon of natural yogurt to make them a bit more moist you can skip this if you like • add a liberal shake of cinnamon if you fancy it 😄 •mix well & put into tin •bake for approx 15 mins until just turning golden •leave to cool before slicing in to baby friendly sized portions These freeze really well. I got 12 largish slices and froze half of them for quick & easy breakfasts

Hi lovelies! Sorry we've been a bit awol lately (again 😅) but we had a super busy week including the arrival of our gorgeous new niece/Mila's baby cousin 😍 and truth be told I've been severely lacking in the motivation department! But hey ho life goes on amaright?! Back to business after not one but TWO terrible nights and this morning's hella early rise 😅 Mila had toast with cocoa and almond butter, strawberries and natural yogurt with tropical mix dried fruit. I ended up having to break the toast up into little bitesize pieces before she'd eat it but the toast along with the strawberries and tropical fruit was eaten. She barely touched the yogurt. The health visitor is coming to see us this morning for Mila's 12 month check! We haven't seen anyone since she was 5 months so I'm interested to see what their chat is! 4/28/19 For lunch today, Eli had: 🍽 Pork broth soup 🍽 Pan fried tofu & beef fritter 🍽 Air fried fish cake 🍽 Oat rice Elijah loves Korean food and doesn’t like any Western style meals nowadays 🤷🏻‍♀️ He couldn’t wait for the air fried fish cake to be done so I served him everything else first. . cheesy chicken ‘sausage rolls’ with hidden goodness 😍 . I N G R E D I E N T S . 5 @heckfooduk chicken sausages . 2 handfuls of kale and spinach leaves . full fat cheddar cheese, grated . @jus_rol pre rolled puff pastry . 1 egg . . M E T H O D . remove the chicken sausage from its skin and break up and fry until cooked through . meanwhile, wash kale and spinach and boil or steam until soft . once cooked, leave to cool and squeeze any water from the greens! . roll out pastry and leave on the grease proof paper that comes with it! Cut into quarters . add the meat to the middle of each quarter, lengthways. Then add spinach, kale and grated cheese on top! . roll and seal and then cut each roll into half . pop them onto a baking tray lined with grease proof paper and egg-wash each roll . put into the oven for 15 mins at 180! . .
