• Top tip // We've spent slightly more than we thought we would and I'm such a tight arse, so here are my 4 best bits of advice that I'd give to anyone.
1. Use grab lorries to collect any rubble/dirt waste. They take, I believe, 16 tonne and are half the price of a skip! (I'm not even going to share how much we spent on these, equally we pulled it back by spending hours loading our tipper and running it to the local quarry!) 2. Always get 3 prices for any work needed, or materials your purchasing. You will probably feel keen to crack on, but in the bigger picture, no body has time to be ripped off.
3. If liveable, spend some time in your house before starting a renovation/extension. Stes mum first said this to us when we brought 207 so we lived in our house for almost 2 years before starting work. This had a massive influence on things, such as having triple glazing in our bedroom window for sound proofing passing traffic, and not having our bedroom on the right side of the house because our only neighbour screams for the dogs to come in every 2 hours during the night! Also where the sunshine is for most of the day, which lead us to having all this glass ⬆️
4. Follow one of the best pieces of advice I got from @renovating_no25 which is to treat yourself to little interior bits along the way, because at the end you'll be broke and you'll compromise on things you originally had your heart set on! .
