Chest and back workout from earlier today. I like to train chest/back and then shoulders/arms on my other upper body day. I prefer this much more over push/pull. There’s a variety of reasons for this but personally for myself I few my shoulders/arms lag behind my chest/back a bit, which is why I like to have one workout fully focused on improving them. Just a back workout from a couple of weeks ago 😉 This was actually a really good one! Very energetic and I did change things up from the usual so I was feeling it for a few days after! It starts out pretty intense but after the DL’s and jumping the pace eases. I will return to a real gym soon. I’ve been able to be creative enough with my workouts to get the job done the past couple weeks since I moved, but i’m ready to get back to a real gym. I hate doing the same exercises over and over. So when the equipment is very limited you either have to get creative or just do the same exercises. Progress check! The right two are from today and the left is from the last week of December. So about 6 weeks ago. . . I’m growing 🌱 and learning that growing- the right way- takes time. . I love both of these parts of my journey. I’m learning to trust the process- put the work in & I’ll see results. . . The most difficult part of my prep thus far- consistency. With food, routine, supplements, water, sleep, weigh in, pictures, attitude- ALL OF IT. . But consistency is something to be mastered- if it was easy- everyone would do it. . So wherever you’re at with your goals- remember good things take time. Determined 💪🏾 . . . . . In the past, most of my workouts have been geared towards resistance training using weights. I honestly don’t do a lot of body weight exercises (and it shows lol). A couple of weeks ago I couldn’t even do 1 pull-up! But I’ve recently started to do pull ups every day with a variety to help strengthen my back muscles, and now I’m up to 3 unbroken pull-ups. *SWIPE LEFT* Pull up variations. One for strength, the other for power. I like to call the second variation more of a polymetric pull up, but for most people pull ups in themselves are a strength exercise, so combining that with the speed to grab the bar above is definitely a power movement. By far my favorite vertical pull movement. I have been playing around with which one I prefer to do first, personally I think I like the weighted pull ups first just because you get used to the weight then doing just your body weight after feels like a breeze. 🔥Chest Supported Dumbbell Rows🔥 This is a great exercise to build up your back and increase pulling strength, all you need is an incline bench and some dumbbells. The problem I find is it’s hard for most people to actually feel their lats working, most of the time they only feel arms or upper back so I made this video to help those who struggle with lat engagement for this exercise! —————————————————- 1️⃣Lay face down on an incline bench with dumbbells or KB’s in each hand, try to lock down your entire body and focus on only moving your shoulder, elbow and some slight extension at the spine as you go through the row. —————————————————- 2️⃣Start by bringing the dumbbells slightly in front of your shoulder to get a stretch on the lats, as you bring them back think about driving your shoulder and elbow down to your hip keeping forearms vertical while having a lose grip on the DB’s. —————————————————- 3️⃣ As you reach the end position think about flexing your lats and bringing your elbows behind your back rather than straight up to the ceiling, come back down in a controlled manner then repeat. —————————————————- 4️⃣For breathing you want to breath in as you come up and breath out as you come down but for heavier sets you can hold your breath and brace at the bottom then breath out on the way down. ———————————— #dumbbellrows #backday #vancouverfitness #vancouverbc #shoulderworkout #yvrfitness #backworkout #sealrow #bodybuilding #powerlifting #calisthenics #vanfitfam #yvr #dailyhivevan #thebarvancouver #vancityhype at The Bar Strength & Conditioning
