The X-Men take on Mystique's new Brotherhood Of Evil Mutants, giving Storm her first major test as X-Men leader in "Uncanny X-Men" #142 (February 1981) written by Chris Claremont & John Byrne, pencils by John Byrne, inks by Terry Austin, colors by Glynis Oliver
*With this and the previous issue, John Byrne knocked out two glorious iconic X-Men covers in a row.
*Kitty, possessed by herself but from the future, abandons the main fight to protect Senator Robert Kelly.
*Storms doubts herself, wonders if she can be as good a leader as Scott, then, in just one move, fucks shit up Storm-style, showing once more why she's out of everyone's league.
*That being said, The X-Men are losing this fight. Brotherhood Alumni Blob is finally proving his worth by making short work of Colossus.
*Pyro thwarts off the United States military with a fire monster.
*Wolverine decides to take on Blob AND Pyro, and it doesn't go well.
*Now it's Nightcrawler vs Nightcrawler, Wolvie's pissy at Storm, and everything's anarchy.
*The tide turns when Colossus and Wolverine team up...
*... and take out Blob and Avalanche, while Storm extinguishes Pyro.
*BOMBSHELL IN THE MAKING, SEEDS PLANTED HERE - obviously one of the Nightcrawlers is Mystique, and when Kurt finally comes face to face w Raven Darkholme, he wonders why they look similar. Mystique tells him to ask his mother.
