I constantly find myself seeking moments like these. Seeking an escape from my routines, my obligations, my working life. From what people are expecting of me, from what I expect from myself.
Sometimes I find it hard to rationalize, hard to focus, hard to balance it all.
This is usually when I know that I have to get in my car and drive somewhere. Leave the bright lights, clamour, stress and judgement of civilization behind and escape into nature, even if it's only for a day or two.
Here I find that time slows down. I find that when time slows down, your mind slows down. You start to take more notice of the simple things in life again, start finding yourself smiling at little things that you'd usually not pay attention to, once more.
You remember how simple life can be, how much ourselves as individuals and us as a society complicate things, complicate life.
We build ourselves alternate realities via our cities and we segregate ourselves and become detached from nature. From where our species came. We sever our roots and wonder why we are always fighting to stand up straight, to stand tall and proud. To withstand the shit that if not currently, eventually every single conscious human being has to face in their lifetime. Weather it's sickness, death, depression, addiction, loss, heartbreak.. the list goes on.
For an ever growing majority, our lives are growing more and more chaotic, we look everywhere for advice, support, strength, inspiration, an easy way out.. we seek stability, we seek growth, we seek clarity and answers to our questions. What if the antidote to this chaos is simply to be found in balance. And what if the perfect balance for a modern day human being is simply a stable and consistant dosage and indulgence of the simplicity and calmness to be found in nature?
The next time that you are feeling stressed, confused, anxious, unsure, pressured, uninspired or demoralised; force yourself to get away from it all. It doesn't matter if it's going out fishing, going on a little roadtrip, going to your favourite beach or lookout or doing a hike that you've never done before. Just go out into nature, it helps me, I'm positive it could help you ❤️
