It’s time for my December book haul! Christmas book tokens and a staff discount are a great combination, because I was able to get way more books than I otherwise would’ve done. It’s a bit of a weird mix – some of these I’ve read before, but didn’t own copies of; others are new to me. Two are poetry, one is nonfiction, and one is an academic edition of a medieval text, because I’m a nerd. Not pictured: a graphic novel version of the Táin, in Irish, because it was a weird size and I couldn’t make it look good in the picture.
2018 has been a pretty major year for me, I have to say. While I don’t think I’ve achieved everything I set out to do, I’ve achieved several things I’d never have thought of at the beginning of the year. I’ve written one new novel and rewritten two others, I graduated with a First from Cambridge, I have a job that I like, I’ve found some kind of spiritual direction for the first time in… YEARS, and I feel significantly more confident as a person! I also started competing with my Irish dance school, took up bookstagram, founded an online community for my medievalist friends (The Muddle Ages), and generally did a whole bunch of new things. So that’s pretty cool.
As for 2019… TOMORROW marks the start of #FinnFuryRevolution, the challenge I’m co-hosting with @paperfury. Swipe to see the prompts again – will you be participating? I can’t wait to get started on it, I think it’ll be a fun month!
