Sometimes spontaneous decisions make the best memories. While in Iceland with a good friend, we decided to get off the main drag and try to hitch over the mountain to one of the little fjord towns on the map. We got in and spent a peaceful evening walking around this quiet town. On the way out in the morning, a man saw us trying to hitch out, asked us a few questions, and wished us the best. 10 min later, he came back and handed us 50 krona (about 40 us dollars). We kept refusing, but he kept insisting and told us to pay it forward to some other young travelers someday.
The next day, we did our biggest hike and ended the 19 mile day eating like princesses, courtesy of that amazing stranger. I think my favorite thing about traveling is that I am always reminded that people can be so wonderful. at Seyðisfjörður
