LiteraryLadies Challenge: “Daisy Jones and The Six” by Taylor Jenkins Reid . You’ve probably been seeing this book around everywhere recently, and for good reason. It’s fantastic! This just might be my favorite book of the year so far. . I love the interview style, and was so impressed with how much conflict and emotion come through. The characters and relationships and dynamic and real, and it’s so interesting to be able to piece together the different versions of the story. . Honestly, I think there’s something for most readers in this book, so definitely check this one out! 🎼😎🥂🎸🎹🥁 . . . #literaryladieschallenge #womenshistorymonth #womenwriters #fiction #books #readinglife #lovetoread #booklove #bookrecommendation #bookstagram #readersofinstagram #reesesbookclubxhellosunshine #readinglife #readinggoals #readingchallenge #bookgoals #weekendreads #instareads #ballantinebooks @penguinrandomhouse @tjenkinsreid

Thanks for the shot @linesiunderline • Posted @withrepost@linesiunderline Weekend coffee shop memory. . Me: I just got the best idea for an Insta picture! We could each have our books, yours on that side, and mine on this side, with matching drinks in the middle! Cute right? Husband: But we finished our coffees. Me: I’ll go get us chocolate shots! . (Approximately 15 photos later, while finally enjoying chocolate shots...). . Me: It’s going to be so sweet, like He Read / She Read, or something... Husband: But YOU told me to read this book. (Pointing to Priestdaddy). Me: (Silence) Husband: You better call it, “He Read cuz She Said.” . Could this be a new podcast idea, in which I control my husband’s TBR and force him to talk to me about all of the books I make him read? What do you think, @hereadsheread ? Am I on to something? (My husband also thinks the name, “Book Boss” has a truthful ring to it). . Friday: Gregor the Overlander. Super-fast, enjoyable. Recommended it to Eli. Saturday: The Last Mrs. Parrish (April Book Club read). Meh. Engaging; satisfying ending. Reminded me of The Wife Between Us. Sunday: 30 pages of When Dimple Met Rishi (right before bed). Interested and cautiously optimistic. #weekendreads #susanreads #susansnightstand at Bloomington, Illinois

✨🖤 “and while they're being told, stories create the energy that makes this world go. they keep our stars in place. they make our grass grow.” ― melissa albert, the hazel wood🖤 ⭐️ did you finish a book this weekend? or what are you in the middle of that you wish monday hadn't so rudely interrupted? 🤓💫😅 💫 i read this book last year when it came out. (my goodreads ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review stands.). but i'd forgotten just HOW good it was. once again, a book i wish i'd written. but i'm glad @melissaalbertauthor did!! 😄🖋📖 with the exception of ARLO FINCH IN THE VALLEY OF FIRE (although there was a lot of magic & realms & creatures & adventures in it!!), every book i've read (or listened to this month) has been faerie tale-centric. ✨mostly to celebrate the mindset of my gallery show STEP INTO STORY, which is still hanging @centrestagesc through april 26 if you missed the opening reception!! 😄🎨🖌 so i do hope you'll drop by to see my work. (the galleries are open 2-6pm tuesdays through fridays + of course when you go to see INTO THE WOODS!!) 💜 i've decided which books i'm packing for nyc next week. (paperbacks, so i can carry + read around town.) but do please keep sending browse*worthy bookshop & lingering coffee house suggestions!! (comment below, or answer in today's stories, please!!). 😄📚☕️☕️☕️🏙 🤓 i have three books out of my TBR cabinet that i wish i had time to read BEFORE i leave. but i'm 3/5 of the way through A CRYSTAL OF TIME (school for good & evil; the camelot years; book 5 by @somanc ) and it's SO good and man, the list the week before a big trip is long. so i'll keep you posted on those!! 😄☀️😎📖✨🤓 📚 hope you have an absolutely marvelous monday and a fantabulous week!! 😎 don't forget those halthegal.etsy.com orders in before thursday if you want them shipped this week!! Happy Monday ya’ll! Hope you had a great weekend! We took it easy and got some lovely rest.🙌 I don’t often read ebooks, but decided to nab one of Amazon’s First Reads, #imfineandneitherareyou on my Kindle. This little, faithful, first generation Kindle of mine is old but still works! I actually really enjoyed reading on it - it’s simple, no bells and whistles, and doesn’t distract me with notifications or other apps. I think sometimes, simple really is better! This now takes first place in best read of 2019 so far! I know I shouldn’t be surprised because I’d read French’s detective series but this standalone novel is in a class of its own. It’s about privilege, class, crime, luck, identity, and memories (always a favorite theme of mine due to its interesting complexity & again unreliability). : Speaking of which this suspense novel has one of the most unreliable narrators - Male not female for a change- and it reminded me a bit of Donna Tartt’s ‘The Secret History’ only with a much more modern setting and take on today’s relevant social themes regarding justice & privilege. : A fairly quick and easy read once you start and although the hardcover sits at 509 pages, it really didn’t feel long which says a lot about how well the author did a magnificent job hooking readers in especially that most of the pages take place in the same two main locations - an ancestral summer home & it’s garden where eventually a skull is found in the Wych Elm trunk after which detectives are called in and a murder investigation launches. : ‘The Witch Elm asks what we become and what we’re capable of, when we no longer know who we are’. : : : #bookaddict #bookstagram #bookblogger #suspense #novel #tanafrench #hardcover #vikingpublishing #crimenovel #home #garden #skull #nowreading #readingaddict #happymonday #weekendreads

I’ve been in a little bit of a reading slump lately and reading slowly, but I’m starting to plan my Easter reading list! I’m going away for 10 days with my family and I’m trying to choose a few different books. I read #TinMan yesterday, having had it for a long time, for a buddy read. I proceeded to have a day where I avoided reading because I wasn't enjoying the book 🤦🏻‍♀️ Coming in at just under 200 pages though, it was a quick read! _____ I understand what this book is supposed to represent, my problem with it is that I've read it all before -in other books that made more of an emotional impact upon me. I read this book thinking about the Simon chapters of The Immortalists - and after I'd realised this I just couldn't forgive the plot of this book for not existing. . Books about grief and loss are very personal, and I can therefore understand that if this pared back, almost unemotive narrative is what packs that personal punch for you. It didn't for me, despite having loved one of the author's previous books. . Also, oddly enough, this is the second time this month I have read a book that very much hinged around the emotional reaction to Van Gogh's Sunflowers (the other being In the Full Light of the Sun) and I wont lie, but I just do not get it! . #ReviewedByJes #BuddyRead #ReadMore #UnreadShelfProject #ForeverTBR #BacklogBooks #QuickReads #VanGogh #BookLoverProblems #Bookstagram #ReadMore #AlwaysReading #WeekendReads #MarchTBR

Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon, the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him the bitter neighbor from hell, but must Ove be bitter just because he doesn't walk around with a smile plastered to his face all the time? Behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove's mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul. All of which will change one cranky old man and a local residents' association to their very foundations. . . A beautiful heart-tugger, is Ove. You can't help but fall in love with this grumpy old man. . . The playful humor that this book is draped in tugs at your heart, and leaves you feeling warmer than ever. And all this I credit to the every-growing adoration you feel for Ove's atypical awkwardness he finds himself in, time and again. . . A book, I know, I'm not done with, in just one attempt. . . #amreading #fiction #humor #bookstagram #bookstagramer #bookcover #weekendreads #lifearoundbooks #booklovers #bookhoarders #readersofig #readersofinstagram #amancalledove #swedishliterature #fredrikbackman #contemporary #humor #bookreads #2019reads #booksread #finishedreading #ove #bookreaderscommunity #bookfeatures #booknerds #bookphotography #bookclub #bookcommunity #bookaholic #bookaddict #bookmark

I'll admit it. I was nervous to start this one. I LOVED The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I LOVED #taylorjenkinsreid style of writing in that book. Would this one live up to my own hype? Yup. It sho' did. Taylor Jenkins Reid. You a badass wordsmith. . . So many passages I'd read and just tilt my head back and say, "Yes!" I started this book yesterday evening. Finished it today. Weekend well spent. . . "I used to think soul mates were two of the same. I used to think I was supposed to look for somebody that was just like me. I don't believe in soul mates anymore and I'm not looking for anything. But if I did believe in them, I'd believe your soul mate was somebody who had all the things you didn't, that needed all the things you had. Not somebody who'd suffering from the same stuff you are." #daisyjonesandthesix #bookofthemonth #sidebook #weekendreads #booksofinstagram #readersofinstagram #boobookclub #friendsWHOread

📖Book Review📖 • The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley • I am so glad I chose The Hunting Party as one of my March reads. It is my second favorite read of the year so far. 📚 The story is about a group of friends on holiday together in the isolated, but beautiful Scottish Highlands. Most of them have been friends since university, though some have been part of the group longer than others. The trip seems friendly at first, but tensions quickly build and secrets begin to come out. Two days after arriving, one of them is dead...and another one of them did it. 📚 As I was reading, the old saying “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer” kept popping up in my head, except some of these friends are also enemies and as a reader, I didn’t know which were which. It’s a book of secrets and the secrets they haven’t told each other will tear this group apart. • While each chapter explores a different character’s perspective and the book jumps back and forth over the span of a few days, Foley handles it with clarity and control. She creates a story with well-paced character development, a murder mystery that doesn’t get solved till the very end, and just enough twists to keep me on my toes. This book was so enjoyable and if you’re a fan of thrillers/murder mysteries like me, I highly recommend it. Have you read The Hunting Party? I would love to hear your thoughts! 📚 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 • • • #bookreview #bookofthemonth #2019readinggoals #booksarepretty #bookaholic #amreading #readinggoals #bookhoarder #bookworm #mustlovebooks #readmorebooks #readmore #booknerd #bookblogger #sundayreads #igbooks #springreads #weekendreads

This book had me blazing through it in record timing. Written from multiple points of view, the author sucks you into the thoughts of each character as the story begins to unravel and paints the perfect picture along the way. . . Catherine is a shy freshman with a best friend that everyone needs to push you out of your comfort zone and take a chance on love. Samuel is a desperate for love junior who gets tangled in the wrong path when Frank intervenes and is faced with a challenging bet. Nathan is a determined cop to fight for justice despite his troubled past. As fellow students start dying from overdose, will Nathan defy the odds and crack the case before more students are in jeopardy? And will Samuel finally find the affection and love he has been searching for in Catherine or will his actions catch up to him before it’s too late? . . This book was a quick read for me. I couldn’t put it down. I had to know if the case would be solved before it got worse or if Catherine would be sucked into the mix. The only issue I had was figuring out who information was coming from when “The Boy” chapters came about. After awhile, it became clear however. . . The Au Pair by Emma Rous. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 I have read 37 books in 2019. This book is by far one of my favorite reads this year! This is a suspenseful story that will keep you riveted from the first page to the last. It truly answers the question “Who is the child and what really happened that day?” The characters are well developed throughout. The writing style is conversational and easy to read, easy to follow. Seraphine, a twin, is mourning the loss of her father and while rummaging through his belongings, uncovers a family photograph. With a single photograph, a family history unravels at the seams, with a shocking twist at the end. Just because everyone is smiling in a family photo doesn’t mean it tells a happy story. I could not put the book down. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a thriller that enjoys suspense, family drama, sibling relationships, and gothic story tone.

I read EVERYONE KNOWS YOU GO HOME book during a week where I had a lot of appointments, and in two out of three waiting rooms, I was in tears. Definitely a novel I need some time to process before writing a review, which kind of works out because I can’t stop thinking about it. EVERYONE KNOWS YOU GO HOME is available now, and big thanks to @amazonpublishing and @nataliasylv for a finished copy. . . The first time Isabel meets her father-in-law, Omar, he’s already dead – an apparition appearing uninvited on her wedding day. Her husband, Martin, still unforgiving for having been abandoned by his father years ago, confesses that he never knew the old man had died. So Omar asks Isabel for the impossible: persuade Omar’s family – especially his wife, Elda — to let him redeem himself. . . Isabel and Martin settle into married life in a Texas border town, and Omar returns each year on the celebratory Day of the Dead. Every year Isabel listens, but to the aggrieved Martin and Elda, Omar’s spirit remains invisible. Through his visits, Isabel gains insight into not just the truth about his disappearance and her husband’s childhood but also the ways grief can eat away at love. When Martin’s teenage nephew crosses the Mexican border and takes refuge in Isabel and Martin’s home, questions about past and future homes, borders, and belonging arise that may finally lead to forgiveness – and alter all their lives forever. . . #everyoneknowsyougohome #nataliasylvester #goodreadschallenge #50bookpledge #chaptersindigo #indigofaves #weekendreads

March is going SO QUICK isn’t? 🙈 I’ve barely read anything this month which is NOT good for #veryberrybooks 🍓📚 oops! Anyone with me? 🙋🏼‍♀️ . . I find I can be quite a critical person when it comes to reviewing my books... I guess I have high expectations 🙊 (and I don’t want to disappoint you) Saying that, I’m more likely to have positive feels for a girly fiction book rather than a psychological thriller just because I feel I need to be utterly shocked and surprised to the core in that genre 😬 . . So if I ever give a book FIVE STRAWBERRIES 🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓 (or even 4) then it really is a brilliant read 🥰 Have you read any of my picks from January and February? (see my feed if you haven’t already seen them ✨

Because some days you just need to stay in your jammies and read....no but really doesn’t reading at home feel best when all cozy in your jammies??? (Although specifically my actual fave way to read is on a hammock on a very comfortable breezy 76 degree day if you wanna get specific. Or on the beach under an umbrella bc I’m old and cantankerous now. Drop your fave place to read 👇👇) My weekend plans were foiled — had planned to head to a bookstagram meetup and then was going to the aquarium followed by a book signing today. But alas....home is where I stayed because Will was really sick and I started not feeling hot mid-morning. So I stayed in my jammies and read and took care of my people. Is what it is. There will be more fun filled weekends. Did you finish any books this weekend? Start any new ones? I’m currently reading Dear Mrs. Bird which is delightful thus far. at Pennsylvania
