I’ve been wanting to photograph an older couple for the longest time. And this weekend it will happen!! They’re celebrating their 50th anniversary & their son decided to gift them with a portrait session! He says they never ask for anything, so he wanted to do something special to celebrate how wonderful they are.
When I asked why a portrait session, he shared with me that they don’t have enough photographs together anymore... That’s something that is true for so many people.. 50 years seems like a long time to us 20,30,& 40 somethings... but time really does fly by.
It’s easy to get caught up in everything that is LIFE, but we can’t forget to document all of it and CELEBRATE our existence and experiences.
This is something even I, a professional photographer, struggle with. I’ll be the first one to admit it - I could bring my camera with me A LOT more often than I currently do. But I’m changing that this year (me and Blayton just had our first ever profesh photo session!) and I’m excited to continue building volumes of photographs of every stage of my life.
Because before we know it, those 50 years will have gone by... and what will we have but our minds to remember them by?
I truly believe that photographs are our legacy that lives beyond our time here on earth. I believe they are a celebration of who we are and have the capacity to deepen our relationships and connect generations.
50 years is such a feat. I can’t wait to hear their stories and to capture these memories for them, their children, and their grandchildren. To say I’m excited is a massive understatement! #neworleansphotographer #momentsovermountains #existinphotos at Black Pearl, New Orleans
