4A Lightwood Road, Springvale, Melbourne
We were on the quest for the best set of boobs around Springvale and found ourselves at @doubledmelb. Double D is a small Asian run burger joint located just a short walk from Springvale Station. We arrived expecting a small meal but the temptation was too real when our eyes came across the Lunch Deal poster on the front window. This gives customers a choice of 3 pieces of Korean fried wings ($5) or their original chips, called Chippy’s ($6.50) with a can of drink ($2.50) and any burger for only $14. Upon entrance, a whiff of oil stench filled our lungs as we struggled to find clean oxygen just to order our food. We ended up with the Krispy Chicken Burger ($11.50) and Double D Burger ($12.50). The Krispy Chicken Burger was an ordinary fried chicken burger. It was fried with a batter too thick compared to the size of the chicken patty, creating a sponge for the oil it was cooked in, resulting in minimal crunch and underdelivering on their “Krispy” promise. However, the Beef burger is what I believe keeps customers coming back. It consisted of two smashed beef patties coupled with crisp lettuce, onion jam and sauces. The honey soy garlic wings gives a great balance of sweet, savoury and garlic. The chips were a close second favourite in the meal with a tasty Double D Aioli sauce to accompany it. I hope the restaurant fixes the exhaust system in their building allowing customers with the luxury of fresh air.
Value for Money: 4.5/5
VERDICT: Worth a try. Bring deodorant and go for the beef burger with a side of chips. at Springvale, Victoria
