Not gonna lie, it was a little intimidating walking up to the 600 yard range for the first time with a 1x scope on a .223 last Saturday. As with any other long range I've shot, putting accurate data into Strelok Pro didnt let me down. By the end of the day, I was not only comfortable with positional shots out to 600 with my limited optic but the precision guys gave me some tips that had me making off hand shots I never imagined I could.
Was able to connect with a 2/3 IPSC target at 425 yards not once but twice standing, off hand. Took about 3 shots each time but at almost a quarter mile with no rest, I'll take that. The position i was taught was WAY different than the offhand shooting I do in 3 gun but it was fun and I'm sure I will take some things I learned and apply them to my 3 gun game.
If you've never shot long range and get the chance, dont be intimidated. It's a TON of fun! Tip #1: use quality optics, trigger, and ammo. Tip #2: input ACCURATE data (actual chrono numbers, sight height, etc) into your ballistic calculator and it will be very close. Using numbers off of your ammo box will make things very challenging as they likely dont line up with your gun
