The wiley little smiles on these heirloom squash seeds made our day! 😊 We're taking this season nice and slowww. Trying to find ourselves in the natural rhythm of this land and taking the time get into that groove instead of continuing the push-push-push pace that set the tune for our first couple seasons. Here's to farmer's mental health, finding sustainable work flows, and shiny happy seeds being sown! 🥂 . . . #heirloomsquash #seedmagic #grooveisintheheart #regenerativeag #sustainableagriculture #smallfarm #pnwfarms #slowandsteady #notarace #freakswhofarm #queerswhofarm #sweethollowfarm at Woodinville, Washington

Sweet Hollow friends and supporters, we want to pass along this opportunity to donate to an organization dear to our hearts, ROAR Seattle! There's so much we can say about this org, but for now, we ask that you please consider making a donation through ROAR's GiveBIG link (link in our bio or over @roarseattle) Contributing to ROAR during GiveBIG day is an awesome opportunity to make an impact with your donation dollars. ROAR's fiscal sponsor, Seattle Parks Foundation, has generously pledged to match up to $1500 - $100 for each new donation. Donations can be scheduled now or made on GiveBIG day this Wednesday May 8th! We've been partnering with ROAR over the past two years and are so proud to be part of this work. ROAR is a food access-centered network of mobile farm stands serving Seattle community members and Washington farmers. ROAR helps make local, sustainably grown produce more accessible and affordable for all our neighbors by passing along wholesale pricing to farm stand customers! ROAR farm stands are also one of the only public outlets Sweet Hollow will be selling produce in 2019, so stay tuned for finalized farm stand locations announced in the coming month! We anticipate a gorgeous season of mobile farm stands to come, thanks for everything you do @roarseattle! #givebig2019 #sharetheharvest #abundance #localfood #foodjustice #foodaccess #fromtheheart #affordablefood #neighborlylove #donatetoday at Seattle, Washington

The first flush of lovage! If you're not familiar, lovage is the no-wave to celery's new wave: a heavy duty, uncompromisingly unique herb to be beguiled by. Leaves and stalks add a funky and sharp perfumed wallop of flavor to any dish they're added, and the seeds are a favorite spice in leaner months. Lovage you make our freaky hearts sing 🖤 . . #excitable #lovage #levisticum #prettyherb #perennials #likeasong #nowave #regenerativeagriculture #freakswhofarm #sweethollowfarm at Seattle, Washington

Please donate to materially support Black and African farmers in our region! #Repost @blackfoodpdx • • • • We need your help! (Donation link in profile) . Due to an unexpected and rapid increase in registrations to the 2019 Back to the Root - Black Pacific Northwest Growers Gathering (@blackfoodpdx ) the Black Food Sovereignty Coalition have a wonderful, and challenging problem!  We secured an initial $10,000 event grant to cover our original budget and that is now not enough. . We need to quickly close a gap of $3,000 for attendee scholarships for registrations, adequate healthy food, secure housing, and off-setting travel for African-American, Africans from 9 countries, and Black-Identified people from the region attended!! With the awesome success of the Feb. 13th - Farming While Black event in Portland and we were introduced to 23 more farmers in the area that were looking for us and this work!! We want to help them be with us in Corvallis on the 22nd! Thank you. . The overwhelming response by newly discovered community has added to the already growing list of Black and African growers in the Portland Oregon and SW Washington area expanding now to Sacramento, Tacoma, and Seattle! A movement is on the rise and it is GREEN, HEALING, and VIBRANT! . Please support it's growth and this event! Your donation of $5 or $500 can help this event accomodate the now fired up Black farming and food community in the Portland, NW Oregon, and SW Washington region! #blackfoodjustice . Again, we are looking to raise enough to close the new costs of attendance, travel, and housing for this first ever ebet in Oregon for Black and African farmers. We are reaching out to our community, friends, and YOU advocates, supporters, and change-agents for Food Justice in the Northwest! . We would like to thank you in advance for your generosity and critical support. Please don’t hesitate to contact us directly at bfscpdx@gmail.com if you have any questions. . Sincerely - All the Best! In Solidarity! Black Food Sovereignty Council + Coalition www.blackfoodpdx.org “Revolution is based on Land. Land is the basis of All Independence. ❤ Cheers to Sweet Hollow Farm's 2019 season! 🙌🏽 First field day of the year has us setting up fencing for a brief pig rotation in the coming month 🐖🐖 We'll be hosting two pigs to help us with reed canary/buttercup elimination, soil fertility, and tilling as we get the field on track for reducing the amount of tillage we need going forward. Thanks to our neighbor Shawn over at @tukmukfarm for lending us some big old hogs and farmer genius! #sweethollowfarm #hogheaven #stuckboot #freshstart #smallfarm #sustainableagriculture #freakswhofarm #queerswhofarm #tiredpeoplewhofarm at Woodinville, Washington

Check out this snippet from Caitlin from our interview in Loam Magazine! We've got copies for sale for $20, dm us if you want to buy a print issue! #Repost from @loammagazine ... “Although it’s good to be resilient, what we are withstanding is so important to address. For me, I’m resisting a world that has made it hard to imagine surviving. I grew up surrounded by and implicated in the vicious culture of White America, in the kind of town that had a big heroin problem before ‘the opioid crisis’ got its name, and as a weird, lonely trans girl hiding on the fringes. Throughout my adult life, I’ve worked many jobs that injure and exhaust me. Trying to cope with, and sometimes ignore, the physical effects of that life is painful and absolutely unsustainable. Against this, farming helps me survive. It’s been something very gentle, and humbling in the most positive sense of the word. The work is physically very demanding, but it can be approached in whatever way I need to, and is rewarding in a way that restaurant work never has been for me. It’s a kind of caring labor, and in this context where my labor and time aren’t commodities, that care can be something that gives me place and opens my life to being cared for. I think what our farm has to offer other people in the way of resilience will be very different, because other people have very different challenges and needs. But the essential parts of this work, interdependent and free relationships of care, are what a radical sort of resiliency is made of and are what I want to spread.” Caitlin of @sweethollowfarm reflects on resilience in this heart-filling feature from the current issue of Loam. 📷@jessdee at Woodinville, Washington
