Holzweiler’s digital retail channel, holzweiler.no, is the brand’s primary platform for its global audience and the main brand platform internationally. The website has been redesigned to create a seamless integration of the @holzweiler brand stores and its digital retail channel. The website design allows customers to explore the brand universe while at the same time making it easier to shop the clothing that is displayed throughout its content stories and physical stores. The website is based on the same conceptual design thinking as the showroom and flagship store. A visible and flexible grid that mimics the pattern of the iconic Holzweiler scarves exposes the underlying construction of the site and gives the site an almost industrial expression. The site is built as a modular solution in which the visibility of the “seam” highlights the site’s flexible design layout and allows the site to be easily altered to accommodate for new needs and ever-changing collections. The new design allows flexibility to adapt key color palettes reflecting the shifting collections and seasons, and to build thorough stories and content around each garment. The site also promotes the creative use of video instead of images, making the site more alive and dynamic. Following its redesign, the website has become a tool that enables the team to adapt to differing needs while maintaining a strong brand identity. at Holzweiler Agency

The first @holzweiler flagship store in Prinsens Gate in Oslo embeds the concept behind the design of the showroom, yet is adapted to be a more clear-cut retail space. Upon entering the store, guests are welcomed by an unconventional, curved passage made of paper that lends a serene ambience to the store. The entrance resets the visitor’s mind and allows them to enter the space at the heart of the store. Visitors are then greeted by a room covered with 3,000 handmade, ragged, mustard-colored tiles that create a warm and vibrant backdrop for the displayed garments. The store’s custom-made furniture picks up on the materiality from the showroom with its organic shapes and use of warm oak, adding a contrast to the finely polished concrete floor. The point of sale is a brushed, stainless steel cabinet placed alongside the wall. The look and placement change the dynamic of how customers interact with the staff, and allows for a more natural interaction, placing the personnel next to the customer instead of hidden behind a counter. 📷@callehuth at Oslo, Norway

At Lysaker Brygge, a beautiful harbor and business area just outside Oslo, we have created a new home for @holzweiler. The brand’s new headquarter has been designed as a multifunctional space, accommodating both a showroom and a design studio, as well as offices in which the broader Holzweiler team can work. The renovation has transformed an open location in front of the Oslo fjord into a welcoming and flexible space that facilitates showcasing of Holzweiler’s fashion items and adapts to the brand’s ever-changing needs across seasons and collections. In the showroom, beige felt curtains can be pulled along a grid in the ceiling to create both larger and more intimate rooms, rooms to work in and rooms for meetings and discussions. In this way, the curtains provide temporary and ever-evolving backdrops to the collections. In the design studio, a flexible storage system has been developed with walls made of mirrors and idea boards where the designers put up suggestions for new garments and exchange sketches and ideas. In this way, the space is promoting both analogue and digital craft and collaborations. Like a modern-day factory, with its warm yet at the same time industrial feel, the showroom creates an environment where ideas can be shared and tested and where creativity and collaboration can thrive. 📷@callehuth at Holzweiler Agency

We have designed the new flagship store, showroom and digital retail channel for Norwegian fashion brand Holzweiler, aspiring to take the brand to new heights and expand their audiences. The project is a result of an ongoing collaboration that started out with the design of conceptual furniture for the Holzweiler showroom during Paris Fashion Week in 2018. The concept for the development of the showroom, flagship store and digital retail channel was “interwoven”, referencing the handcraft behind the brand’s iconic scarves and other garments. It also works as a metaphor for the seamless, intertwined brand experience created through the three new spaces. Moreover, the term represents the intertwined nature of the collaborating disciplines employed in the project, from interior architecture and furniture design, to fashion, graphic design and web design. Together, the three projects form a holistic effort aiming to create a seamless retail experience for Holzweiler’s global customers in both the digital and the analogue sphere. The interwoven Holzweiler universe can be explored through the showroom at Lysaker, the flagship store in Prinsens Gate in Oslo and on holzweiler.no. @holzweiler 📷@callehuth

On Saturday, May 11, Founding Partner Craig Dykers was conferred an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts from North Carolina State University (NCSU) in recognition of his achievements and impact on the university. Chancellor Randy Woodson conferred honorary degrees on Dykers and Ginni Rometty, CEO of IBM on Commencement day. Congratulations, @craigdykers, and to all 6125 degree recipients! NCSU is home to our first built library in the U.S., the James B. Hunt Jr. Library. Opened in 2013, the building set a new benchmark for technologically-sophisticated collaborative learning spaces. In the six years since its opening, we’ve loved seeing the current students engage with the space in new and surprising ways through the #myhuntlibrary. Tomorrow marks the opening of the exhibition “Snøhetta Shaping – Interaction” at the Architekturgalerie München in Germany. This is the first solo exhibition of Snøhetta’s work to be held in Munich, and it showcases how we respond to specific contexts in our projects. Models, photos and sketches convey the process of “shaping” three projects developed for @swarovski. For the crystal workshop known as “the Manufaktur”, the playtower at Swarovski Crystal Worlds and the apple orchard on Swarovski’s premsies in Wattens, we have developed unconventional new typologies or reinterpreted the familiar. A video-space installation in an old bunker will feature the user’s interaction with iconic buildings designed by Snøhetta. The exhibition is on display until July 6th. We have developed the exhibition design and graphic profile for the Utestemme/Outdoor Matters exhibition at the National Museum – Architecture in Oslo, which runs until September 1st, 2019. The exhibition turns the spotlight on the pioneering era of landscape architecture in Norway from 1900 to 1960 by exhibiting historical material from the archives at the Norwegian College of Agriculture at Ås (now NMBU). The term «utestemme» is Norwegian and refers to the loud voice one typically uses with when being outdoors. The exhibition design is a loud interpretation of a traditionally quiet discipline, and explores both our physical and emotional relationship to landscape architecture. @nasjonalmuseet Video by @thomasaflatt / @alsoknownas__ at Nasjonalmuseet

We’re excited and humbled to be shortlisted for the 2019 Aga Khan Award for Architecture for our work with the Muttrah Fish Market, in Muscat, Oman. The Fish Market is created to serve as a focal point for the community of Muttrah, while simultaneously functioning as a hub for Oman’s thriving fishing industry. Merging tradition with innovation, the 4.000 square meter fish market is designed to sympathetically unite the old and the new. The generous space creates a public meeting space where local fishermen and worldly tourist from all over the world meet under the same roof. The architectural concept is inspired by the playful qualities of light and shadow through the shape of a double radial wall defining the spine of the new fish market. Calgary Central Library has been awarded a 2019 National AIA/ALA Library Building Award. Granted by @aianational in partnership with the @americanlibraryassociation, it is the only award in the country that honors the best in library architecture in all aspects of its design. We're thrilled to be recognized for a third time, following our work on the Ryerson University Student Learning Centre and the James B. Hunt Library at North Carolina State University. Congratulations to the other 5 winners, and of course to our excellent partners at @calgarylibrary who bring this building to life every day. A Stool for Creation. Together with Sawaya & Moroni, Snøhetta has created the Sløyd Stool – an object that celebrates craftsmanship and creation and blends into any contemporary space. The Stool is a natural expansion of the Sløyd family, as it introduces a comfortable seat that provides healthy sitting positions for its users whether they are working on crafting objects or simply enjoying a drink in a bar. The form of the stool is derived from wood shavings and forms a saddle that offers two ways of sitting; traditional and straddle. This allows the user the flexibility and freedom to adjust their posture according to their activity. The product has been handcrafted by picking the finest selection of solid oak wood paired with an optional and elegant Italian leather saddle. The Sløyd Stool series is available in three heights – 75, 65 and 42 cm, and is first presented during Milan Design Week 2019, both at the Rho Fiera, Hall 20, booth E18, and in the Sawaya & Moroni showroom in the city, Via Alessandro Manzoni 11. @milan.design.week @sawayamoroniofficial at Milan, Italy

Our monograph is out on bookshelves! We’re thrilled to share ”Snøhetta: Collective Intuition” with you, published this spring with Phaidon. Written in our own words, the book dives into 24 projects from the last decade, examining three core values in our work. These three corresponding chapters organize projects driven by the integration of disciplines, projects that produce new ways of understanding political space, and projects that open up new models for generosity and collective ownership in the design of the built environment. The book is available in bookstores and online at phaidon.com/Snohetta. Take a closer look via the link in bio 🔗 Have you picked up your copy? Let us know what you think!
