Be fearless in the pursuits of what sets your soul on fire. -Unknown ****************************** It only took a few outings on ice to figure out I had a natural love for fun gnarly technical ice features. Climbing beautiful formations of blue, frozen ice, silence my mind and leave me with a warm heart. A much better version of me to return to loved ones. Did you get out to do whatever it is that makes you smile? ❀the weekend's not over yet. πŸ˜„πŸ‘πŸ» ******************************* This past few weeks I've pulled away from lead to focus on lapping the gnarliest features I can throw a rope on. Not only for physical and mental strength but to get acquainted with the ice. Here I'm on lap 2 of a beautiful 3 ft ice roof that was left over from a fallen pillar last year. Not as smooth the second lap but killer fun none the less!! #maybeleaditsametimenextyear #girlswhoclimb at Banff National Park

Happy Hearts πŸ’• Something about climbing super funky ice just simply puts a smile on my face. 😝Returning me back to fast pace city life energized for another round. πŸ’ͺ🏻Have you planned your weekend agenda? What's your choice in weapon? πŸ’ƒπŸ»πŸŽ£πŸ‚β›ΉπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš΅πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ???********************************* Short on time we landed on Tokkum Pole in marble canyon and also neither of us had ever been. The early birds had two ropes on the main WI5 ice so we chose four different variations to the left, all with a rock start. Hooked for the most part but sections were healed or untouched and still climbed WI5 esque. To boot we were blessed with some awesome company. Thanks to @rockiesalpineguide for letting us run a lap on his rope, @bremirynech for this sweet snap and the Spaniards and Irish clans for great food and entertainment! ❀ truly love these days. 😊 #topnotch #mountainpeopleunite #alpinelife #canadianrockies #iceclimbing #mountainlife #getoutstayout at Marble Canyon

Never too old for a Victory Selfie ................................. Every once in a while I have to share the silliness that goes on behind the scenes of scaling beautiful frozen waterfalls....... from the top of Carlsberg the 'Bald' Eagle πŸ¦… peers in for what looks like his first fish eye experience. Like me, Orange crush 🍊 and Stephey wonder πŸ•ΊπŸΌ also have not figured out how to look at the lens! Oh the continuous laughter, I'm amazed We held it together. .... 🀣 it should be illegal to climb together. what a top notch day with exceptional company! Hope you all had a killer weekend!! Happy Monday everyone. 😎 #mountainpeopleunite #mountainlife at Field, British Columbia

Beer climbs.... Field is a cute little mountain village tucked between beautiful limestone peaks and never quite gets sun. The reason why you will find many beautiful blue ice falls cling to its snowy slopes. After a quick chat with a helpful park ranger to check on avy, we were off to Carlsberg, WI5 a super short walk up from the car. Here @ian.lewis.ca opens up the climb for the day. A little on the brittle and scary wet end but lots of hooks. We only saw one other party up there, two Americans on their last climb of their trip. We ended up joining them for supper. Got to love the openness and amazing people you can meet out on the side of a frozen water fall! Thanks so much everyone for a laughter filled day!!!. ❀😊 super @paulmasiar, @40nu20 #topnotch #mountainpeopleunite #mountainlife #alpinelife #carlsbergcolumn at Field, B.C.

Shhhhh! Goes the amphitheatre. πŸ™Š@peakstratagem opening the Eagle....... πŸ¦… it's in spicy condition and not protectable for the first 10m ish. We can hear the empty thuds as he swings ever so gently into the thin sheet like pillar. πŸŒΆπŸ’¦ Thump thump goes my heart along side the pecking of a wood pecker in the Valley of the Birds. πŸ¦†πŸ¦…πŸ¦‰πŸ₯What an awesome lead and what an awesome place! If plan A doesn't work out, there's 25 letter left in the alphabet.........!!! With high avy and warm weather @thismountainlife and I flipped through many options before landing on the Valley of the Birds. My first time in and what an awesome little place....! Albatross and dead bird have sections of no ice and wet rock but yellow bird, seagull, eagle and raven were all climbed today. Here kyle climbs up the eagle πŸ¦… which is in harder than normal condition with a thin pillar start. Thanks to @peakstratagem for opening up this awesome line!!! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» at Ghost River Wilderness Area

Let's Talk!!!! I challenge you! 😊 ******************************** This was an absolutely magnificent outing in so many ways. I wish I could share the positive and uplifting vibes here as @ian.lewis.ca starts up malignant a few weekends ago. February is always a difficult time of year, but especially so for us in Alberta this year with hundreds of thousands out of work and those with work feeling the stress and instability everyday. Unemployment stats in Calgary are now more than 1/20, I have many friends on the 1 side. Regardless of political stance, my heart bled for what stats like this mean for my friends, my neighbors, my community and the people I love. Just remember, no matter how terrible life seem, it will always work out in the end and if they don't then it's not over yet..... Stuart McLean, vinyl cafe. RIP. Try to get out and do the things you love most. A healthy you is the most capable you and remember you are never alone. ********************************************* Lets come together. I challenge you to grab a friend in funk and encourage them to take a break from the hecticness of life. ❀🀝 #februarygoals #inspire #ilovemytribe #letstalk #community #spreadkindness #awesome at Ghost River Wilderness Area

Happy Days!! ❀ ************************** I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day!!!! I know it's a little late but we were busy celebrating πŸ˜‰ ...... lol our first 🏑 together of course. It's a project home but I'm so happy to be sharing this renoventure with him! Something about them handy men...... πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ»mm mmm mmmmm. We've got the first 8ft long crack machine up in the basement thanks to Scotty but with the most terrible crack sized for small hands. πŸ€œπŸ»πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ€’. Who knew climbing could be so painful...... The next is the squeeze machine! πŸ™ˆDo you have any ideas for training rigs in the basement??? πŸ’ͺ🏻 Oh and thanks to @timbanfield for finding us home, through tricky negotiations!!! πŸ‘πŸ» at Silver Springs, Calgary

More from the Ghost.....❀ ********************************************* Accompanied by two amazing gents on my second ACC trip as a leader, the day was a success under the sun and blue skies. β›„οΈβ›„οΈπŸŒ„ ********************************************** Wanting to boycott avy terrain and risks from the temp cycle, I felt the ghost would treat us well. I opted for Beowulf. I had been turned back from Beowulf three time this year due to tricky access so I hesitated initially but heard the access was great and minus some snow drift and breaking trail through a few thick wind slabs I was stoked to see it so tame. Nothing a little shovelling couldn't fix. As for the climb, the venue is spectacular. The strong winds made for messy ropes on our rap and kept us on the chilly end. we did punched through the pools a few times as it was hard to see below your feet with all the snow. I will admit, Im still learning every day about ice conditions. They were challenging with 2ft fracture travel (final pitches) or aerated ice for protection (first pitch). Reading the features and large reach between swings was crucial. Thanks to Allen for swinging leads. Overall a beautiful venue and excellent outing. πŸ‘ŠπŸ»πŸ˜„ #alpineclubofcanada at Ghost River Wilderness Area

Happy in the heart on days like this. ❀The best part about going climbing with super paul is that he picks the right venue for the weather! Can't beat basking in the sun watching Ian crush his lead with fruit boots and petzl cordex gloves in -14C. Beastly...... Malignant mushroom is 55m of fun WI5 ice and in cruisy condition. A few gnarly mushrooms on the right but can be avoided, the left side is wet and boot sinking unstable. A recommend visit for a fast day. πŸ’ͺ🏻 She's got a short approach from the park boundary and the Ghost didn't seem to get the heavy snowfall that the local areas got. πŸš™πŸ‘πŸ» thanks for an awesome day @paulmasiar and @ian.lewis.ca πŸ˜„ #yupthatwasfun at Ghost River Wilderness Area

The ghost got us again!! Blown out transfer case, but at least I did the towing this time. We salvaged the day/evening on Crystal Tears a little over an hour walk up grotto canyon after getting the injured vehicle to pavement. It was still such an awesome day 😊 thanks @indragramm @marksinasac Scotty and Mikey for the laughs and fun! #iceclimbing #salvagetheday #awesomecrew #nightclimb *************************************** The earlier pitches were very thin and there are sections that are more snowy then ice but low grade so manageable, the crux was picked out but still super fun. The early trail from the base of the climb takes you a pitch or two below the crux. the second trail up the gulley gives you a few more easy approach ice pitches. Hope you Enjoy! :) at Grotto Canyon

Icicles for days πŸ’§ @thismountainlife heading up a fun thin pillar line a salvaged climb at Johnston's after losing sidewall sealing on my tire in the ghost again. Second vehicle πŸš— blunder this season coming from a clean record or should I say lucky record, this reminds me how serious and quickly the situation can change in the ghost. Check the air in your spare tire, pack the crow bar, rescue straps, ice chipper, chains etc. for your adventures into the Ghost. I'll try try again for next weekend. 😊 ************************************* #iceclimbing #savetheday #travelalberta #icicles #icepillars at Johnston Canyon

Hang on!!! ⛏We all work so hard to zone in on what we want and who we are but sometimes life is simply about discovering what and who we're not. ********************************** As I close up the year rich in love, surrounded by my most cherished people, I realized this...... The chances we take and failures we make are what reassures us that we are just where we need to be. So dream big in 2017!!! I'll be cheering you on and if it doesn't work out go easy on yourself. Not everything is meant to work out the way we plan it too. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜Šβ€οΈ *********************************** Awesome iPhone snap of me trying to open this thin formation followed by a gnarly roof. All good things come to an end... until next time that is. ❀️ *************** A top of the charts trip with this gem @amy.j.hughes So many people cross our path in life but so few truly touch our souls. I'm happy I found you in this great big world! Yosemite here we come. #soulsisters #spiderweapon *************** Estrallita 12p, 10d with 10b variation. Its a great first climb to get familiar with the rock and gets you high enough to get a good map of the area. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ˜Š highly recommended with some super fun climbing but mostly cruisy. at El Potrero Chico Hidalgo N.L.

Desert to Ice ***************** I returned from Mexico to -30C Canadian winters.....with most people hibernating we ventured out anyways to find the ghost to be only -10C when the city was tabling in bone chilling temps. πŸ™ƒ it's always worth the drive. ******************** The access to the north ghost is getting challenging boys and girls. Despite the newly dozed roads the frozen river crossings are tricky due to broken and fragile ice, shelves are not bad yet. Ice is in, the condition was either brittle or wet on #GBU. #ghostriver #iceclimbing #frozenwaterfall at Ghost River Wilderness Area

Flexibility ******************************* You know, as a Canadian chiquita, getting soaked to the bone while climb in hypothermic temperatures is a no no, so today's light, speedy, low commitment ascent was an absolute blast. β€οΈπŸ’ƒπŸ»πŸ’ƒπŸ» @amy.j.hughes and I laughed, sang and danced jacketless in the rain, carrying nothing but a water bottle, snack and camera and tackled 8 pitch Super Nova, 11a. It took a bit to realize our big alpine packs can stay at home or at minimum at the base.... perhaps it's a metaphor for life..... ❓ 😢 Need or just what we are accustom to? ********************************** Ps for the gear monkeys, I tested out the @ailerogram waist pouch and it seriously ruled.
