We all scream for ice cream!🍦 🐌 Slow Food Atlanta's 13th Annual Ice Cream Social, in collaboration with Peachtree Road Farmers Market, is Atlanta's coolest and sweetest summer tradition. ☀️ On Saturday, August 24th, 1:00-2:30pm, the 13th annual mouth-watering Ice Cream Social has local chefs and ambitious amateurs - all partnering with local farmers and working together to create unique and flavorful ice cream. Chefs + Farmers = Better Together. Advance Tickets are $20 for adults, $5 for children (5 & over) and include an all-access pass to each and every flavor! Kids 4 and under are free. Fennel is a flowering plant species in the carrot family. It is famous for it's licorice taste, and thought to have many positive health effects including, contributing to building and maintaining bone structure and strength. One cup of fennel contains about 43 milligrams of calcium, which can be helpful for those who don’t consume enough foods high in calcium. Calcium isn’t the only bone-strengthening nutrient found in the bulb. Fennel also contains magnesium, phosphorus and vitamin K, which all play a role in maintaining bone strength. Try it grilled for a sweeter, less licorice-tasting dish. Grilled Fennel: 4 medium fennel bulbs (about 3 pounds total), sliced lengthwise ½ inch thick 3 tablespoons olive oil Kosher salt, freshly ground pepper Prepare a grill for medium-high heat. Chop off fennel fronds, save to garnish the finished dish. Peel away the outermost layer from the fennel bulb; it’s tough and fibrous and won’t be good grilled. Toss in olive oil and place on a rimmed baking sheet or directly on grill; season with salt and pepper. Grill fennel until lightly charred, about 4 minutes per side.
