Garfield High School fans cheer for their team during the East LA Classic, a rivalry homecoming football game between Theodore Roosevelt High School (Boyle Heights) and Garfield High School (East Los Angeles) at East LA College, California, in the fall of 2017. Garfield won 43-14. Thousands came to see the game that dates back to 1925 when Garfield was established. This photo was shot #onassignment for @natgeo with @kchete77. Karla and Ivan’s photos were published in the July 2018 issue in the feature: “How Latinos Are Shaping America’s Future.” Please check the link in my profile (@ivankphoto) to see more. Thanks!!!

So @golfwayoflife I’m brown and from Los Angeles. My family has served in the Military for the last 80 years. We are Mexican American and Native American who have always lived in California. What you are saying about “latins” is uninformed, outright judgmental and racist. The fact is where the football game was played borders a All Asian community and 5 minutes from there is a All Armenian “euro” community. They all get along, pay taxes and contribute to society peacefully. They do not hold judgments with each other so it’s hilarious for you to hold judgment from 3000 miles away. But you wouldn’t know that and I can tell by your statements. It is wrong for you single out Latino’s and say they don’t belong because they want to change culture. America was meant to be a a combination of cultures so how are they changing that? They are not! And this brown American will not stand for people like you to create a false narrative and push us around. If you really want to see American culture and to see the best part of our country please move to Los Angeles and actually meet people and be around people every day instead of judging them from afar. If you do that and still have this attitude then maybe America isn’t for you

it is obvious that you want to go back to the 1960s. If that’s the case then we know where you stand and you will stand on the wrong side of history. Continue living your life as you are stating. In the end you’ll be bitter That things have changed without you. Then you can go back into your closet with all the other racist @golfwayoflife

1994? Damn, leaving this conversation. No point of speaking to anyone about Real life issues that hasn’t lived life yet. Get back to me when you have some perspective. I’m not upset just not going to tolerate ignorance @golfwayoflife
