Photo by @dina_litovsky. Kiev's students celebrate the Last Bell ceremony, marking the last day of school. Traditionally, in this ritual that dates back to the 1960's Soviet era, a first grade student rings the bell while sitting on the shoulder of the tallest graduate. After this formal event inside the individual schools, the graduates take over the streets of Kiev, bathing in the numerous fountains and celebrating the first day of summer freedom. This looks like a beautiful, respectful and fun celebration. Much better than what happens in Australia. Most go to the Gold Coast and get drunk (or worse) for a week!
