The #CORE to #POSTURE👊 . A strong and stable core is the foundation to healthy posture. . And core is so much more than the superficial #abs, or #sixpack. . I have met (and treated) many athletes and people who appear to be in #greatshape. Yet to find in their assessment that the #functionality and #healthymovement are not there. . So what’s missing? . Often the deep core is overlooked and the larger muscle groups are prioritized and over emphasized. “The beach body” anyone? 🏝👙💪 . Pull-ups, push-ups, curls and crunches... All feeding the hunched posture!🚶‍♀️🤦‍♀️🚶‍♂️ . For your next workout, check in with yourself: 1. Is the exercise/workout supporting your posture? 2. Can you focus on #form instead of repetitions? 3. #MOMENT💫Being in the moment. Being fully present. #MEDITATION is as ‘simple’ as that. . Instead of coming back to the basics, we have a tendency to overcomplicate and overanalyze things. . Keep it simple. . Catch your mind when it wants to complicate things, or when it turns negative. . “I can’t meditate”. . “I know I need to meditate but there is no way I can’t sit still”. . “I cannot not think of anything”. . How many times have I heard my clients, friends and family say this? . My answer is: “Yes, you can!” You just need to #rethink what meditation is. . Not everyone can be a monk in a monastery. But everyone can meditate. . First practice: 1. Close your eyes 2. Take one breath. 3. Feel your breath. 4. Watch your mind. 5. Take one more breath. Repeat step 3-4. 6. Repeat for ten breaths. . Oatmeal made into #powerfuel and #superfood 👊😋 . Switch the store bought prepackaged oatmeal (often a lot of added refined sugars, and flavorings), and make this power bowl in just 5-10 minutes. . You can also prepare night before to make the morning time a little more relaxed😌 . Rich in protein, fiber, and healthy fats. This bowl will make your cells dance all day! 💃🏼🕺 . Oatmeal: 1 cup of oats, 1.5 cups of water, pinch of salt, cinnamon, one tablespoon of coconut oil. I have specialized in #POSTURE for the last 13 years. It was also one of the main reasons why I started @balanswellnessstudio in 2010. I wanted to spread awareness to posture, and educate on how much it affects our mental and physical health. . I have seen people’s depression and anxiety go away by improving their posture! Poor posture compromises our breath, which triggers the flight-or-flight response, which ultimately elevates the stress hormones in our body. Over time, that’s enough to cause anxiety, stress, and/or depression. . And of course, neck and back pain, which seem to have become the norm in today’s world. They are affecting many people often young in age, but can be prevented if we learn how to use and move our bodies properly. . Who knew posture played such a big part in how we feel everyday?🤷‍♀️ . Before Balans, I was working in conventional gyms, and there was very little focus, if any, on form and quality of movement. Or how the exercise made the person feel. It was always a numbers game. Chasing the numbers at the expense of form lead to poor results, and often injuries. . I decided to make a difference. As part of the Balans lifestyle, I created a unique treatment, aka “Postural Therapy”, which combines movement and manual techniques to restore and optimize posture and body functioning. . What do you choose to feed your body, and why? These are deeper and more important questions, than any restrictive diet touches on. . Eating healthy is a practice of self-love and self-respect. It’s an act of saying YES to life! . There are individual dietary differences, but there is ONE UNIVERSAL TRUTH that applies to every human; we all need essential nutrients to survive, and thrive! . So rather than following a strict diet, aim to maximize NUTRIENTS PER BITE. Calories is not a good measure as it can be loaded with nutrients, or completely lacking thereof. . Concerned about weight? No need for stress. Once your cells are fed proper nutrition, your weight will stabilize at a normal and healthy level. When we eat a healthy and balanced diet, cravings stop, and we are more likely to eat an appropriate amount of food. . A Few Tips Towards a Healthier You: 💚Eat The Rainbow. The more and the darker colors, the more nutrients. 💚Stick to real, wholesome foods. 💚In a wrap or box? Skip it. 💚Does it grow? Eat it. . Even “health bars” and “protein bars” are processed, and often they contain additives and added sugars. Instead, grab a fresh fruit + some nuts, and you will have the energy you need! .
