Music has always been such a huge part of my life. 🎶 It started with tapping out “Mary Had a Little Lamb” on an old organ with my granny when I was just 3 years old. Then I moved on to screeching around on my grandpa’s fiddle at 5. I grew up listening to aunts, uncles, and cousins singing and picking guitars, banjos, mandolins. My dad had taught me a few guitar riffs and chords by the time I was 10. Then in the fifth grade I decided to join the school band, which is how I learned to read music. I just knew I was going to play the trumpet, but it turned out that I was a lot better at the clarinet, so that’s what I played all the way through my senior year. I was also on the drum line for marching season. (cymbals and quads) I took a few guitar lessons around 8th or 9th grade too. But after I graduated high school, I got really busy with college classes and parenting 3 toddlers, and I stopped playing music. I had a guitar, but it stayed in the closet all the time until I let a friend borrow it and never got it back. 😔 So a couple of years after Laikon was born I knew I needed to get back into playing music. It’s just always been such a huge part of me, one of my most favorite creative outlets. I ordered a ukulele from Amazon on a whim one day. I love to sing, and I felt like it would be quick and easy to learn to play and sing my favorite songs, and I was right. I loved it! But then the kids broke it, and I was sad. 😆 Then Alan surprised me with an acoustic electric guitar for our anniversary a few years ago ❤️, and I’ve been jamming with that ever since. 😁🎸 I wish I could work up the courage to sing in front of people, or even just like....with people other than my kids in the same room. 😂I’ve been taking videos of myself occasionally because my granny wants to hear/see them. (Some of y’all were lucky enough to catch a clip of one in my stories a couple of months ago 😄) Maybe one day I will be brave enough to start sharing them with y’all more often though. Do y’all play any instruments? Let me know below!
💜💜 I found this old wooden music note at a thrift store a while back and just had to buy it and give it a rainbow makeover!! 🌈🎵🌈🎵🌈 at Fort Payne, Alabama
