The big leopard leap!! .
Hailing from Bangalore, I always admire Kabini with respect to sighting leopards in its habitat. I feel leopards in Tadoba sometimes give me the feel as the Kabini ones. .
On an early morning drive, we saw three tigers within a span of forty minutes. We saw them stalk and play whilst the mother was relaxing. .
In the next few minutes, the mother and cubs walked along the forest path blocking the way. The cubs being curious, got up a tree, rake marked it and were running around chasing quails. .
In no time, the guide from the forest observed a movement on the tree and screamed out loud, ‘Leopard!’. The leopard was up on the tree, trying to escape from the tigers. He was right at the top at about twenty feet high and was very cautious about his move. .
Now all the focus turned towards the leopard, as it was up on a tree and the tigers were ignored. .
In about ten vehicles, eight of them decided to move ahead following the tigers and the two, out of which one was ours, stayed back for the spotted cat. .
Soon after the tigers left the scene, the leopard took a chance to escape and flee. Anticipating his movements through his body language, we positioned ourselves in a great place and expected him to get down the tree facing the ground. .
He was not ready to do that but instead, glided from one tree to other by his leaps and ended up giving one of the sightings of a lifetime. .
A series of images were shot and this is one of them. The next image will be posted soon!! Photographer :@sandesh.guru
