Okay, so these are pics before going in and a couple of pictures snapped at the end. Kevin Hart invited everyone to take out their phones to get pictures at the end of his show. He ensured that there are no second hand copies of his show floating around. It was a really good show shared with a good man! #xmas #datenight #gift #atlanticcity #kevinhart #irresponsibletour #etess #arena #hardrockhotel #ocean #view #room #still #sick #but #getting #better #selfcare #minding #my #health #overall #goodvibes #soul #medicine #laugh #out #loud #happyholidays #brandmebeautiful Check out my dating goals in Bustle. So this was a picture I tried to take before the security swooped in to tell me no phones are allowed out. One of the comedians used that in during his act and had us laughing. He said I’m joking about it, but you will be asked to leave. Of course, after this shot, my phone went quietly 🤫 into the night! 😂😂 #kevinhart #etess #arena #hardrockhotel #atlanticcity #good #times #selfcare #laughter #medicine #for #the #soul #we #enjoyed #ending #the #year #laughing #out #loud #minding #our #health #too #datenight at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City

Great Day! It’s been such a long time. I miss all of you. Soon I will fill you in on my hiatus, why I had to withdraw from social media as part of my self-care and more. For now, I want to wish you all love, peace and cheer to guide you throughout your New Year! Although I’m not feeling well, it didn’t stop me from ending out my year in Atlantic City where I mustered up medicine for the soul- laughter at Kevin Hart’s show. Be well and have a good laugh, it’s good for you. #etessarena #hardrock #hotel #atlantic #city #hardrockhotel #laughter #medicine #for the #soul #mind #your #health #physical #spiritual #financial #mentalhealth #practice #selfcare #sending #love #light #strength #comfort #cheer #happyholidays at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City

One vital thing I do, I retrain my brain. It’s a beautiful part of my anatomy. It’s functions/dysfunction can impair perception and ability to experience happiness. It’s why I highly recommend seeking out a mental health professional. Someone with the skills and evidence based practices unique to your needs. Those who devote a portion of their lives to be a help. As a secondary form of prevention, find supportive mental health communities to join. By the way, you can change a therapist. Find one for you. Know that whether it looks bad, you feel ugly or others reject you- your life is yours and it’s worth living. We need to take the sting out of stigma and remember that ”the goal of awareness is that WE all participate in prevention.” Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline @ 1-800-273-8255 #national #survivors of #Suicide #day #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #stopsuicide #take #the #sting #out #of #stigma #end #social #isolation #seek #help #offer to #listen #be #present #speakup #show #support #find #resources #seek #mentalhealth #professionals

There is joy to be experienced in ways you may not be able to imagine. At one point, I didn’t think it was possible. In 2007, my psychiatrist took me off medication. He said I was ready for talk therapy alone. However, I’m informed to know to ask for additional help if needed. There’s no shame in seeing a therapist or taking medicine as long as the meds are the right fit for you. I am living proof that with the right supports and personal work, recovery is absolutely possible. Something observed during my battle with depression and choice to attempt suicide is that my perception of self was off and that's the struggle. I didn't think that I wanted to punish my family or friends. No, I honestly felt like they would be better off without me. The impulse to act was strong. It was a now or never. It was a decision that I could end my suffering and whatever pain I caused others. I was wrong. I found out that you can endure the suffering, that you can make it to the other side of pain and that there are mental health communities and mental health professionals that can contribute to your healing journey. There is more to do. Manufactured smiles are a thing of the past. It's a myth to believe that persons struggling with mental illness aren't that sad or that bad because you see them smiling. Masking is something that society has unfortunately inspired us to do. When those struggling with depression are shunned and dismissed, they shrink back in shame. It's why I am vocal about mental health. We need to talk about it. Bring awareness and prevention. The journey is not easy, but you can have an authentic smile. When seen as human and not other, heard and not ignored; you can rise and join the fight to live happily. Your life may be rough, but it's yours, and it's worth living. While battling depression, I felt like I was in a dark tunnel. I was alone and when I tried to share, I was told to pray or shake it off. Certainly prayer and shaking has its place, however not in response to someone sharing struggles with depression. In fact, hearing those phrases translated like this: Person: Girl, you’ll be fine, don’t be negative, just pray and shake it off. Me(what I heard through the pain): Girl, ain’t nobody have time to hear all of that, go pray. Keep it between you and God because I can’t help. You can be surrounded by people and more isolated because of another’s inability to listen, just listen and admit not knowing what to do while offering to find help. What was needed was a shoulder to lean on, cry on, and find a moment of peace. My point is, be uncomfortable and listen, then together find a resource.
